Ok, i've had a good look through this thread and i see people complaining about having to restart their routers often and the suggestion that disabling logging stops this issue.

I'm trying to figure out whether this is the same issue I am experiencing with my VB104W, we got connected finally on the 3rd of january after signing up on the day they released VDSL. Late november sometime.... That aside the speeds have been a vast improvement on ADSL2 with around 31Mbps down and 6 up to most NZ speedtest servers.

Our issue however is that sometimes twice a day, sometimes once every 3 days the internet light on the router will go red, it won't allow you to connect to it and the wireless connection shows as limited. When tested with windows diagnostics it says the DNS server isn't responding. I've tried using google's public DNS on my local settings instead of auto detecting from the router and this doesn't fix the issue. The problem is beginning to become more frequent as i have had to reset the router 4 times so far today, twice since disabling logging. I also reset it twice yesterday.

TL:DR - VB104W drops all connectivity, doesn't allow access to web portal. Internet light goes red and sometimes a power cycle fixes it, other times it takes 2 power cycles. Anyone experiencing similar issues? Apart from this speed seems good while it is running so i don't think i've been affected too much by the Dynamic Line Management during our first 2 weeks.

DLM doesnt always nap download speed away when a line is "unstable" eg, rebooting alot.

its more common trait would be to put you on a higher latency profile.

Latency within NZ on speed tests is generally under 20ms so i believe it's running as it should. Just frustrating having to restart the router so often. I'm wondering whether slingshot will send a replacement before i return this one because i'm not going without internet for a week!!

so your probably on an 8ms(each way) profile.

normally people stride for DLM-1 which is a 1ms profile. (which is also generally the fastest profile.)

reboots arent the best for DLM at all, i cant say i can agree with slingshot providing a modem that is so unstable..

Also having the port forwarding issue which is very frustrating and have had to power cycle router once so far due to loosing both wireless and wired connectivity to the internet with no errors displayed on the router itself. Router currently running GUN4.HT128A-C30A-EI-R1B028-NZ.EN_2T28-SL..... Hoping that a fix will be released ASAP!!!

It would make for a discrete backup location if only I could get the USB port to work with an external, powered, drive.

Does anybody have the USB port working? I have set it up using the 'hidden' samba page, but still cannot browse or enter the location?

Any help is appreciated.

Maybe it does not support USB file sharing? Where is the menu option for file sharing?

I have been testing the new firmware for Slingshot and have heard they the hope to roll out the latest release early next week. This will fix port forwarding, NAT issues along with many more of the "bugs" that have been discussed the the forums.

Not too far away now people :)

Will the new firmware fix the incorrect stats shown in the statistics page? That's pretty much the only thing I care about since I have this router bridged.

Can I request a change log printed when the new firmware release goes live?
Also features to tweak SNRM would be nice too.

SNR tweaking up for stability sure, but easily available tweaking down shouldnt be available imo. leads to people doing stupid things with it..
