Some further example tests to respond to Athonlite and Silverwolf:

Other

The Tests for the United States are significantly faster then I have had before. However, the previous tests I have done would have been during peak hours.

Should I expect the US speeds to drop off again in peak hours tonight? or are we actually looking at a resolution here?

Definitely wait for peak hour to retest, I get great speeds off peak, the issue is basically only around 6-10pm.

I second that. Definitely test again during peak hours. Things deteriorate for me from about 4PM and then coming right again after midnight.

I'm seeing increased packet loss to some US based sites that I monitor during peak hours. I've given up on trying to watch anything on YouTube between 4PM to Midnight:

And yes, local traffic is fine:

Access to the Wikipedia and BBC sites seems to be unaffected:

So its a bit of a mixed bag really. Unfortunately, all of the sites I want to get to (and most if not all of you who have commented) during peak hours are on the clogged up pipes. What I have notcied is that anything routed through asianet.com is noticeably better than going through global-gateway.net.nz during peak hours.

Do these performance problems apply to ADSL1 as well? or is it only ADSL2+ customers

This has been stipulated in several posts above. But anyway, it applies to both, but it seems ADSL2+/LLU customers are worse.

Well here we are at 4:39pm and things seem good for national trafic

now for the international trafic

hmmm garbage again to Sydney

hmmm garbage again to LA

and yes yet more garbage to DC

and more of the same to London

just aswell i dont order my sushi from Yokohama it'd be past it's use by date befor the order got through

I am having slow International speeds too. Live in just outside CHC. I have complained about this before (In May) and it came back to normal (routing issues in April). Then in July I had issues again and they said it was possibly from all the rain!!!! It hasn't been the same since then. Surely the cables have dried up since then!!!! (Plonkers, who they kidding) Raised a (Critical) ticket again this evening. I am on ADSL1 and apparently wont be geting ADSL2+ until 2012 . What a joke!!!!

I am fed up with this piss poor service now and there is nowhere else to go!!!!!!!!!!

Aaaaaargggghhhhhh!

What an absurd position to take, advised before and ignored before. Are you saying that ISP have no legal obligation to provide the advertised service? You need to get a better grip on such subjects as customer protection law. You must sell what you advertise, it must function as advertised etc etc.

The service fails to meet the advertised performance advantages, indeed many people are suffering a degraded service after going to ADSL2+.

Goodie, your problem seems deeper. I have never had anything less than lightining speeds for local traffic... even at peak hour, it makes no difference.

They fact you are getting those horrible speeds to Auckland and Wellington suggests your issue is more than just what is being discussed on this thread. But all you can do is lodge a support call which you have done.

The odd problem is that it didn't start off like that, and now its back no normal. :/

Last time i checked was at 1am and it was still messed up, when i woke up (10amish) it was back to normal. So it could be some form of international prioritisation gone wrong? :/

Either way, its not good.

Well it seems like Orcon have done something. Things are looking much better (for me anyway) from around 4PM yesterday. I could actually watch several YouTube videos last night with no buffering-stop-start-stutter. Anyone else notice any difference?

Yeah working much better for me as well. Back to normal and no problems at all yesterday. Fingers crossed it's actually been fixed this time.
