No press release yet? I noticed Hamilton retail stores are now advertising...

If that is DSE @ Te Awa then they have several indications the zone is on, including discounting the USB sticks :)
Went into the 2D store to confirm but the ever present line if people in there was longer than my patience.

Hamilton is live, and broadband packs will work there. The reason it's not officially added to the list yet is that it's still very early days for the coverage optimisation. We wouldn't want people to think they were going to be a in BB Zone and spend a bunch of money only to find they'd been optimised out a week later. W

When the optimisation has finished and the coverage map is stable, then we will publish the broadband zone boundaries.

Looks like Hamilton is now an official 2degrees broadband zone.

Looking at the coverage map it seems odd to me why they did not cover Cambridge and the road in between.
At work in the zone at home not (many people travel to Hamilton to work).

Edit typos!

If you follow that thinking the construction would never end, as once they built Cambridge then someone would ask why they didn't build a site at Karapiro, and so on etc.

They have to draw a line somewhere, i would assume that if there are a good number of customers they wil build there soon

Any posts are personal comments and not that of my employer

Really? 2degrees have dropped the ball on this one, Cambridge is one of the main places I go to in Hamiltron.

The sites aren't built for you *personally*, Steve, they're built based on where most of our customers are, based on their usage. :-) If you live out of our coverage but only make and receive calls while you're *in* it, you're not costing us money, which is the basis of the exercise.

Besides, if they won't build a site just for *my* convenience, what hope have the rest of you got? ;-)

Sure I know what you are saying. But I was only making a comment on what I thought was an obvious issue.

I fully understand the argument, but its just like putting towers in the Wellington CBD. Of course there will be more traffic in the CBD but most of those people live out of town.

Who cares about Cambridge really?  Aren't you all too busy riding horses and sipping lattes?

Have the Vodafone towers within this coverage zone now been locked out?

haha, in that case, they should have added towers in Hamiltron the same time they did Auckland, since it's just a suburb, right. ;)

Unfortunately, the coverage map ends on my property! I keep switching back between Vodafone and 2degrees unreliably. It seems that the coverage is nowhere near as vast as it is in Auckland which covers small suburbs such as Swanson that are a lot further away from largely populated areas. It would be nice to see Cambridge getting reception in the future
