Yup, that's the new firmware. Port forwarding should now work fine and there should be improvement on the "hanging" connections.

Does the new update fix the line stats? Mine hasn't auto updated, probably because it's bridged. Is there a download for the firmware update that I can update the modem with manually?

With the old firmware, my u/l speed was slower with lan connection than wifi - about 7.5-8 Mb/s vs 9.5-9.8. This was consistent over the past 3+ months - and seemed a bit odd to me.
With new firmware, u/l speed is 9.7 Mb/s - so that seems to be a minor issue fixed.

Hi.

I've had vdsl connected today using the VB104W. Initial speeds are OK - around 31Mbps down and 7.97 Mbps up. It looks like the VB104W router has older firmware though - GUN4.HT128A-C_30A-EI-R1B028-NZ.EN_2T2R-SL dated 01/09/2014-13:53:00 rather than the B032 version mentioned above. Earlier posts say that the devices are being auto-updated, so I guess I just have to be patient and it will have the new firmware when I wake up tomorrow? Or is there somewhere I can download it? Can't seem to Google anything useful (apart of course from this spectacularly useful forum).

Took some fiddling but new firmware has definitely fixed the port forwarding issues. Thank God.

OK, the new firmware did apply automatically a couple of days later, possibly after my son restarted the router. All good there.

My sons have been having disconnects from their games each day though, which we didn't get with adsl. Still only a few days of vdsl experience though and today, the worst day for disconnects, had a general connection problem at Slingshot, so just watching and waiting for a couple more day for now...

As a PPPoE bridge, this modem is fantastic. Rock solid really. However, if left to handle DHCP, NAT, the firewall, and the wireless (basically anything other than the modem duties) the thing might as well be a brick. Constant crashing and lock ups, selectively kicking random people off the internet usually due to DNS errors.

On the flip side, when you do get the wireless to work, man can this little black box project a wireless signal!

Generally it will update itself when connected. Checking your firmware version will tell you if it's the latest (GUN4.HT128A-C_30A-EI-R1B032-NZ.EN_2T2R-SL).

Is anyone able to upload the latest firmware for me? I currently have GUN4.HT128A-C_30A-EI-R1B028-NZ.EN_2T2R-SL and want GUN4.HT128A-C_30A-EI-R1B032-NZ.EN_2T2R-SL.

Or would calling them to email me it work?

They wouldn't give it to me! they said it being rolled out in stages and my device will update by the end of the month. However I would like to update sooner rather than later so I can configure it then use it for ADSL2+ till Sunday when the Filter install is complete and I start using the service.

If someone could be kind enough to upload it and share it with me I would be internally grateful.

Totally agree with this modem working perfectly well, after you bridge it. Only thing I disagree with is wireless range, from my experiences the slingshot provided modem has terrible range.

I share the same pain, I rang up and asked for the firmware update, I even explained my reasons as to why I needed it now. But it seems they just can't. This is why I hate ISP Modems, the fact that the firmware is only available through auto update is a pain in the ass.

considering its a managed device, they may just choose to only send out firmware updates themselves.
