I really really wish the market would stop differentiating between iPhone, Blackberry, mobile broadband, and mobile data plans.? Data is data, anyway you cut it.? The only difference is handset subsidies, which are normally laid bare anyway because they advertise an outright buy price.

Typical release strategy - develop, prototype, user acceptance testing (silent in this case), then change control to move the new systems into production.

One big question that there doesn't seem to be a straight answer to - will the roaming agreement on voda use the voda 3g network?

i.e. are only the 2g sites becoming 3g meaning the other 52% of NZ has GPRS still? Or will the rest roam on voda 3g??

or because of the way RIM will control what Vodafone charge in some way i bet, didn't Vodafone say they had the same issue with Apple controlling what they could and couldn't do with the iPhone plans?

in some ways be an unofficial carrier has its advantages

It does if they need to make some service disrupting changes. It's much better that they tell everyone it is being turned off/locked up otherwise people will start complaining about the poor network.

Yes, you will have 3G wherever you are, either on one network or another.

are you using windows? i am AMAZED you were able to get it so you weren't transferring anything at the time of the screenshot. mine wont stop!!! its always talking rubbish to something.

I use Windows but my machines are lean. I don't install crapware, toolbars, etc. Windows itself, if kept up-to-date is quite "silent".

Also, going by the model number mentioned and the Huawei modem mentioned by freitasm, I found the following specs:

"Huawei E1552 Modem Specifications
