No it's even more split than that., but it's absolutely easy to get confused as they all used to be the same company, share the same name and two of them even share the same customer portal.

Telecom retail is retail (to customers). Telecom Wholesale is wholesale (to companies that resell, such as Telecom Retail, Slingshot etc). Chorus is the company that runs the physical cables.

Easiest to think of it as a layer.,

Telecom Retail/Slingshot/etc
Telecom Wholesale
Chorus

Unbundling drops the company unbundling down to Telecom Wholesale level as well as the retail level (providing they still retail, which they do), although I think only Vodafone currently resells their network to others.

and while your there could you get a note added to Everyday plan, pointing out that it is a FS/128k plan unlike the other plans that are FS/FS but is listed as if it is a totally FS plan. It not transparent that there is a difference between those plans speeds and could almost be misleading.

Are you saying that the "All You Can Eat" Plan is capped at 128k upload? or is "Everyday" a different plan?

Quick Edit: I have realized that Everyday is another plan. The All you can eat plan is full speed both ways or it it capped also?

FS/FS as well., Same statement as above applies., FS/128 can no longer be purchased from Telecom from 1st September. :)

i would have thought that it needed all 10,000 people joined before a true picture could be found , if it has only a few hundred people using its going to be quick as it has more bandwith than normal.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

That's interesting, and it doesn't make sense for small numbers of users. But I guess we'll wait and see.

I mean, if they are allocating an average of say 128kbit per user then they wouldn't only make 1.28mbit available for the first 10 users would they? Or 12.8mbit for the first 100 users.

[edit] 128kbit is a guess. But they have said it's 3-4 times more than normal users, and they stated that the Telecom handover was 48kbit per user, so I guessed at 3 times that value.

Hi there,
After I heard about All you can eat, I reserved a spot, and joined up.
I recieved an email saying that I will be switched to slingshot on Monday 23rd.

I just expect this plan t be as good as BigTime; I never had problems with anything on BigTime, Maxed out my line speed when downloading (ADSL), even at the start...

I will post a few speedtest's on monday if the switch happens, and compare it to BigTime (Telecom)..

Its probably as I thought, I won't hear anything unyil they get my DD form.

I wish they had a plain old normal billing system

i applied on Thursday night used visa to pay ...no email yet but when i log into my account on slingshot says " period ending 23 august , dont know what they mean by that , maybe the expected start up date i say...
