I don't think it means much because mine says period ending 18th September

My internet has just stopped working this afternoon, not sure if i have be switched early or telecom is just have issues where I am, guess I will find out soon

Nice line speed tests -- can you download something legal like a linux iso on bittorrent (well seeded) and rapidshare premium if possible? Normal rapidshare is capped at their end anyway. Would be nice to see download speeds.

I'm also a BigTime refugee considering a switch to the new Slingshot All You Can Eat plan.

Issue #1 was the 24-month contract - the ability to step down to a lesser plan alleviates that somewhat.

Next issue is the substantial additional $$$ (Aside from the $80 plan, the fact that I have to switch to Slingshot's homeline which at $47 is $9 more than the Telecom price for Wellington, and I even have to pay more than Telecom for things like Caller ID - Also I will lose my Sky Digital Startup through Telecom which saves me $10/month on buying direct from Sky). Net effect - $40 extra per month. OK at least that's something that I can quantify and weigh up.

Next major concern is around performance - aside from my personal use, I will also be using the service to work from home - using a VPN into my company's gateway in Sydney. I run VoIP over the VPN, as well as streaming video for training. I know it's very early days, but if anyone is on the plan already, is anybody able to comment on VPN performance?

By default I'm using Cisco VPN Client with IPSec over UDP which defaults to UDP/10000, but I can also run IPSec over TCP using TCP/22 or TCP/10000.

Can anyone recommend a decent modem to buy for the All You Can Eat plan? I have to return my modem to my current ISP so am looking for something that will do the job. I've already got a wireless router, so only really need a one port modem. I'm guessing a cheap Netcomm would do the job? TIA :-)

Has anyone else been noticing slow downs tonight? i have had issued with both FTP downloads and HTTP downloads where they will either start full speed and then after about 1 min slow down to less than 100KB/s or they will start off that slow, they some times go faster than that for a few mins but then go back down to 100KB/s

Looks like the true connectivity of the new plan is starting to kick in? My billings on the 18th so I still got a while before mine gets switched to the plan. But I basically assumed by that time most users will have switched and that the performance will be mediocre at best

On Monday when I signed up for the All You Can Eat plan , the guy I was talking to said there were 38 calls in the queue (this was around 4pm). By the time I had finished talking to him, he said there were now 43 calls in the queue. Interestingly he said Fri/Sat/Sun were very quiet but things had got very busy on Monday. I had called on Monday morning and was told that they couldn't sign me up at that point but to either call back after midday or I would receive a callback. I did eventually get a callback at around 6pm but told the guy I had already signed up.

I guess that the plan will slow down as more people join but I think Slingshot has provisioned it better than Telecom did with the Big Time plan. Keeping it down to 10,000 users (at least to start with) is a good idea.

The slingshot CSR rep put the wrong details in for my address and chorus rejected the order for the new line. They are adding a second line to our account and i clearly explained all details are exactly the same except instead of xxA geogres drive it was going to be XXB georges drive.

Slingshot rang and said whats your address? Chorus say there is no georges street.

lol

After another rejection, I ended up having to get the rates bill out to look up the property identification number to pass on to chorus,

All i wanted was another line for the house next door
