Anodyne: Thanks Item, that's encouraging. I'll get onto tweaking that setting.
As far as DLM reset goes, I made the request, mentioning a new more stable modem. Here is the reply from Slingshot customer service:
"I understand you would like us to re-run the DLM. We do not have control over the DLM and can't reset it, however, every 10 days, the profile will change (if required) to adjust to your connection taking your modem into account".
Thanks again Slingshot.

Item:Anodyne: Does anyone know if it is possible to get Slingshot (or Chorus?) to increase the frequency of DLM polling as if it was the first few days of the connection? I've now got a DSL-N66U to replace the slowly improving but essentially tedious VB104W. I imagine that the results of DLM polling will be quite different now but I don't want to have to wait 6 months to find out if I can avoid it!
I got the same router/modem to replace my VB104W recently
With the latest firmware (1.0.7.0), it has a stability adjustment section for VDSL as well as ADSL2, similar to the 55u I had previously...I set mine to the max (5db) and saw my downstream go from 30ish on a good day to just a hair over 40 most the time now. Haven't seen any issues with reliability or errors as a result of the adjustment either.
The wireless is tons better too, so pretty happy.
BreaKer: Where did you get your DSL-N66U? I live in Dunedin and would prefer to get in from a local shop.
Thanks.
Anodyne: Hi Breaker.
an NZ plug (rather than an adapter) is handy.
Anodyne: Hi Breaker.
I got my DSL-N66U in NZ. Amazon is great and it supports Geekzone I think if you order you Amazon stuff through here but for things like modems which plug into the wall, an NZ plug (rather than an adapter) is handy. Apart from that, I found this modem to be quite a bit cheaper to buy locally from a bricks and mortar store here in Hamilton (which also has a web presence) than to get it from Amazon. I suspect that naming a particular shop might breach the Geekzone advertising rules but if you check out one of those web sites that suggest good places to buy, they'll hook you up. Hmm, did I dodge that bullet?

that is completely wrong. DLM doesnt run every day 10 days, and slingshot are capable of resetting DLM.
i suspect you will find the CSR that responded to you is not trained on VDSL.
try again, call them. talk to a manager if required.
reminds me of a case with orcon (trying to find the thread now.. was a few months back now.) where the people that hang around on GZ didnt quite understand how DLM and VDSL work, after much explaining they tried it, and low and behold from that point on they are more than happy to do resets.

Actually they cant do resets, but they can ask Chorus to do it as they have the controls.
Only thing then is that there is added delay with the ISP then waiting on Chorus.
What the ISP can do is reset your port at the cabinet / exchange.
This will also rerun DLM on the line anew.

Anodyne: Hi Hio77. I tried Slingshot CS again (describing the options you mentioned) and this time their reply was "A port refresh has been carried out".
Thanks for your help!
