Does anyone know the IPv6 prefix 2d issue is static or dynamic?

Signed up a week ago and read this post, quite disappointed. I ran some web services from home but if the IPv6 addresses are static then I can reverse proxy them via CloudFlare.

I actually tried calling customer support and they just won't budge.

I think there are a few keywords you could use, like: surveillance (cameras, alarm), climate control, etc.

Key words - breach of contract.

consequential damages, material change in service are probably another couple to chuck in there too.

So conversation with 2degrees and its $10.40 per month for a fixed IP.

I object to paying this to fix something 2Degrees has broken , something I have been using for quite a number of years.

I would prefer them to take away the Amazon Prime.

Did you mention that you needed a static IP as a result of CGNAT? I had to make it clear that I wouldnt be paying the fee due to the changes made.

They said the have tightened up their requirements for fixed IP

As is there option only for a StaticIP, could they not offer you a dynamic public IP like you had before for no cost and use dydns to track it

Correct, and for 90% plus of customers this change will make little to no difference.

HOWEVER, for those who relied on this functionality they have removed something of value. That is the issue, $125 a year to get back something they already had.

They told me they didn’t have plans to introduce that
I was happy keeping a dynamic public IP, didn’t require it to be static

But I guess it makes little difference these days with always on connections

Some really weird things happening here.  I have been trying to pay for my US ESTA via www.pay.gov   None of my devices attached to 2 degrees broadband could connect to the site (2x computers wired, 2 x iOS ).  I eventually got through by hot spotting via my VF mobile data.

Rang the ever helpful helpdesk (those guys are really good) who assigned me new static IPs.  Now it sometimes connects and sometimes doesn't (mostly doesn't)??

@NickMack - something really screwy going on here...

Possibly IPv6 connectivity issue or MTU/MRU issue?

@stocksp What router are you using? I don't have any issues with this site.

Just changed the MTU on PP0E to 1500.  Seems to help so maybe it was the MTU?

Grrrr - there is an hour of my life gone I'll never get back.

Finally got around to trouble shooting why my VPN to home stopped working.

Took me ages to work out why my Fritzbox IP address did not match my DDNS and where the fault was.

At least once I worked out I had a CGNAT address range I came straight to geekzone and found this thread.
A call to 2 Degrees and I was given a free static IP straight away, no issues.

Understand why they need CGNAT, and the fixed the issue for me so still a happy customer.

I just wish I had not missed this thread. Bad timing wtih me going overseas at the same time they switched to CGNAT.

I'm very annoyed about all this as well. I spent over a day trying to figure out where i'd stuffed up (I don't really know that much, i just follow a lot of guides online). Resetting every setting i had trying to find out why it wasn't working. Even swapped from the Grandstream GWN7000 i was using to connect back to the Fritzbox and spent hours resetting up all the static IPs i had on the home network to find out nothing still worked.

Eventually i came across this thread and I've found i wasted a crap load of time trying to fix nothing that was my fault in the first place. I called 2degrees and explained what was going on, and they're now charging me an extra $10 a month for the same service i signed up for in July. They said they wouldn't do it for free as that's not an option they do.

Only reason i came across this again today is because my internet speeds are now playing up.

28.10.2019 1:29 AM 3 882.87 464.04 ~ 700 Christchurch 2degrees 2degrees

5.11.2019 5:45 PM 108 8.46 9.30 ~ 700 Christchurch 2degrees 2degrees

And i was just looking to see if anyone else was having any issues. And now I'm really pissed off that i'm being charged while other people are getting it for free.

@brokenlegacy agree it would be frustrating. If 2degrees don't provide the service you want you can always move providers - I think even if you're locked into a contract you could make a very good case for getting out of it no penalties as they've substantially changed the service without consultation, even if their T&C say they're allowed to.

@timmmay Yeah i do like 2degrees though. Which i why i moved my mobile phone (although crap service at my house and i live in the middle of town - an issue for another day) and internet to them in July. Just disappointed at the moment.

And to anyone who sees the speeds i posted in my last post, I've now fixed the issue. Done some testing and worked out it's my computer slowly dying. Telling me i need to upgrade it. 🙃
