I too just wasted time troubleshooting my VPN and remote connectivity.

Thanks for the advice on here. I called support and pleaded my case - and got a free static IP too.

I'm kinda amazed at the number of people here who didn't at the first step, check their IP.

Given each example would have been a dynamic IP, it's equally as likely that DDNS got out of sync.

If you're hosting a VPN yourself but don't have the wherewithal to check your public IP on a dynamic connection, I wouldn't recommend you host your own VPN.
It's been discussed at length that no one in the industry would make a public announcement about this sort of change, because it would bring the customer facing side of the business to a screeching halt.

I would have thought most people that know enough to run something at home what not know what the address space is for cgnat.

Or when seeing their public in doesn’t match what their router is reporting and would expect it’s their router with the problem. Especially if there was no advance warning

Guys, can we stop with the “you’re too stupid to run a VPN” comments. Obviously we checked that our IP and DDNS addresses matched - they did. What took a while was realising that our ISP had made an infrastructure change without us noticing. But we’re here because we did work that out too and came to discuss it.

This is a group of tech enthusiasts. Be supportive and helpful to each other.

Or use a tunneling service like ngrok, localxpose.io or similar. I would assume you just need a single port. As long as it's http traffic it can sometimes be easier doing that without exposing your home connection.

Yeah, I got mine for free... I was surprised when I saw people saying they had to pay the monthly fee.

Edit: 2degrees have said they will review static ips case by case, so I assume there's factors like customer subscription duration etc.

My ipv6 /56 has been the same for at least the last 2 reconnections. I dont know if it's static or not, but iirc it has been this way since before CGNAT/ me requesting static ipv4.
