pjamessteven:

Aw, was getting my hopes up for a second. Do you know if there are plans in place to improve coverage down here though?

This in this mornings paper regarding poor voda coverage in Timaru's western suburbs.

I remember this

Quote from the article

" In a statement yesterday, Vodafone said due to opposition from some local parties, Vodafone's proposed Mountain View Rd site did not go ahead back in 2002. "

Can't say we tried

I think that because cellphones have become more of a necessity than a luxury in the last ten years, these people that opposed might reconsider. It's actually pretty crazy that they opposed to it, even though there was already a telecom tower on the same site.

No, no they won't.

It's actually pretty crazy full stop, given that study after study shows that if there is any health impact, it's so small that no-one can reliably measure it. If you're going to panic over something, panic over traffic accidents or drowning. But that's people for you: utterly rubbish at correctly evaluating risk.

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.

ridiculas in 2002, 10 years ago, people were not happy. Telecom back in 06-07 put up a tower. Why can't voda put one up now. Voda's reception in west timaru is so poor. I can't make a call from my kitchen. We live in 2012!!!!!

As advised in the thread Vodafone has plans to improve mobile coverage in the region under RBI

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

The final RBI coverage map on vodafone seems to indicate it will skirt Timaru city completely.
From the map coverage it seems the areas with problems now will not benefit from RBI.

Yep, seems to be the case.. I'm thinking of switching to Skinny or Telecom anyway. Might come back home to 2degrees once they (or Vodafone) fix the coverage issues here.
