Really surprised to hear Orcon slated, just initiated a new deal with them.
Totally refused the genius, didn't want to go naked and definately didn't want to pay for a modem that doesn't belong to me. That's worse than MySky.
Had a good moan up about my current plan and quoted a few of the competitive plans on the net and they came back with a better deal than the rest. I get to keep my phone line, basic unlimited regional calls and up'd my internet to 90gb's a month, more than enough for me, all for a price lower than anyone could have offered. Seriously better than Telstra.
Unbeatable really.
Speeds are pretty acceptable and reliable. Varies between 18 & 26mbps. Cables coming soon.
But I have to say, I did give them first refusal, wouldn't listen to any sales pitch and they came up trumps.
The other option was Telecom's deal of 120gb for $109 (or something like that), which was tempting, but I've had enough experience of Telecom and their monopolistic arrogance not to want to return.

So thumbs up for Orcon, from me anyway.

Any problems were sorted quickly and efficiently through Chorus or their Tech dept.
I actually wanted to stay with them, but on my terms, and they actually listened and responded.
I ditched Telecom ages ago, had nothing but problems with the line and a total reluctance to sort them out. Actually, thinking about it now, the service was abysmal, I got the feeling that they couldn't care less for my custom. I was too trivial for them to resolve my problems.
So I left Telecom for Orcon, they sorted the problems out immediately.
Never looked back.

Kind Regards
Grim.

Old3eyes.

Clarify. Just in case you're refering to my post. Orcon free local calls and internet. One package, very, very low price, extremely good service.

Kind Regards
Grim

I think he's asking if you're on Orcon's voice network (ie connected to their ULL gear) or a Wholesale PSTN connection.
