I certainly wouldn't consider 140ms to Aussie to be on the good end. O_O

Well if I was in a totally unreasonable mood one could conciser any more then 30ms extremely bad latency and my ISP should be bending over backwards to give me the best service as I'm paying top dollar $120 per month.
30ms is almost the latency on the SSC between AKL <-> SYD any increased latency means my ISP is not giving me 1:1 bandwidth.
Also remember there is no SLA for latency to anywhere in the world.

I know that NZ is full with such l33t gamers that an extra 0.1 seconds reaction time causes you to lose all the time.

Even if you don't play games, many people do. The difference between 40ms and 140ms is life and death in many situations.
People want to come home after work and relax enjoying their favourite game, not rage at their game being unplayable.
Also games use very little bandwidth (64k-256k) compared to other common web usage, such as Youtube.
Something else to consider with regards to game performance is jitter and packet loss. If either of these problems are affecting a connection they can also render a game unplayable.

+1 on this.

The way I look at it. It was working fine the other week.

Now its not.
Low ping back please.

EDIT: Slingshot are requesting people experiencing the issue to contact & provide traceroutes etc.

There's a big difference between an 5-10ms (12.5-25%) increase and a 100ms+ (250%) increase.

Again it could be a 500% increase theres no SLA that says what acceptable latency is, people make their own mind up as to whats acceptable or not......

Want better latency move to Aussie or play on NZ Servers.

Normal latency to the east coast of Australia is 30-50ms. I don't think it's unreasonable for people to expect it to remain that way.

IMO Slingshot/Callplus need to either refine their QoS rules or get more bandwidth on their Equinix link.

30-50 is normal to Aus??
I would of thought that is more of a normal adsl ping to NZ servers.
I got around 60-80 to Aus on a normal connection for all the years ive been playing.

That's assuming interleaving off from Auckland.

between 8 and 10 to NZ servers and 25 to 30 to AUS server.

Slingshot connection in Mt Roskill with interleaving turned off as per the default.  If you are with another ISP, give them a ring and get them to switch interleaving off.  Only do it if your line stats are good and you don't have problems with drop-outs.

Would be interesting do you mind doing a traceroute to the servers your playing on?

You can always pay more for an ISP that runs lower contention ratio's on international transit!

Just saying™
