richms: Can I change to naked unlimited without going on a contract to save some $$ with this price increase?
joriarty: Not too happy... we signed up on a 12 month contract. I cannot find anything explicitly in Slingshot's T&Cs, but if we sign up and promise to remain a Slingshot customer for 12 months, they cannot just decide to up the prices, right? If we promise to remain a customer, then implicitly Slingshot promise to provide the same service for the whole 12 months.
Axe: If I only have the unlimited broadband, but want to change to a capped plan, do I have to join a 24 month contract?

Hi,
I'm sorry that this is not the price you signed up for.
If you are wanting to know the terms and conditions please check the out at http://slingshot.co.nz/terms
Or more specifically you can refer to term 3.1 on the link above.
Thanks,
Ben

You must pay our charges for the services we provide to you, regardless of whether you or someone else uses those services. We may vary our charges from time to time. If we increase any charge we will give you at least 10 working days notice. You can always check the latest available charges by calling customer services on 0800 89 2000.

Is there something wrong with that? On a case-by-case basis Slingshot may come to the party and not charge you for excess usage (i.e. if they sent some technicians round to set up Grandma's broadband and they never set her up with a wi-fi password, I would put the blame on Slingshot), but in general, security is our own problem.
I do think it's a bit dodgy that they can seemingly decide to charge whatever they like, though, without voiding the contract. Would be interesting to see if that clause can stand up in the disputes tribunal. Though we'll just have to stomach the increase and hope the speed is increased in tandem, as $10/month is a bit of a petty dispute. Just disappoints me that they honour the spirit of the contract and hold off the increases until the 12 months are up, is all.
Slingshot: I think you'll find most companies have a similar clause these days guys...
Think about it, we have to change prices over the years.
Food and beer from the pub hasn't stayed the same price, nor has your internet services.
Slingshot:jickyhan: The email I have received said "To make this possible, the price of Broadband UNLIMITED is increasing to $111 per month from 03 Sep 2012 , your next bill date."
I assume it should say my total bundle which include the phone line rather than only the Boardband?? Any one can confirm if slingshot just increase $10 a month for this plan or otherwise that's $111-$60=$51 for me.
Hi,
As above, yes this refers to the bundle pricing. Apologies for the poor wording.
Thanks,
Ben

This!
A5X: No where in that email does it say what the current bandwidth is allocated already, and what it is going to increase to?
How is the end user really going to be able to?measure the proposed?speed increase?
