ajw: Wasn't the excuse a month or so ago from Slingshot when they raised the price of the all you can eat plan is that they wouldn't have to data manage anymore on this plan.

I don't see this said by a Slingshot representative anywhere. Can you link me to your source?

McGee: Wow that's cheeky, You'd think that with a service like UFB an ISP would be able to support full speed transit even if it's only domestic.

When I checked Snaps UFB pricing when it came out it was something like $75 for 30/10 with 25GB base data which is always "turbo" from what I understand

Snap's pricing is very sharp now but only a handful of ISP's offering pricing currently and most people not able to connect UFB yet I wouldn't draw any long term conclusions. Expect prices to change a lot especially when the two ISP's that dominate residential marketshare currently (Telecom and combined Vodafone/Telstraclear) enter the market.

I predict Slingshot will continue to target the budget niche aggressively.

Regulated wholesale costs that Chorus charge are allowed to increase by inflation iirc, so yes there are other factors that ISP's need to cover.

Flip already does data rollover.

Flip don't rollover your monthly data cap they rollover your purchased data not the 5gb per monthly cap.
Slingshot already roll over your purchased data and soon will rollover your monthly data allowance.

Example: your on the 150gb plan month 1 you use 100gb next month you now have 200gb of data.

Flip may not, but Kinect certainly do (and have been for years iirc.)

If I have read corretly, Orcon now offers unlimited plan on UFB for $99 (including landline). It sounds better and definitely cheaper than what Slingshot can offer.

Will Slingshot follow? ;)

You should expect UFB pricing to change a lot in the next year or so.

Also Orcon have a history of pricing plans too optimistically then having to back track and increase prices.

Yes I am sure internet pricing is changing as it has always been but I think it's always a downward trend......is it not?

Speaking of back-tracking....we have all just seen Slingshot increasing the price of its unlimited plan from $60 to $70. Don't get me wrong, I understand the increase and I am still very satisfied with Slingshot and its unlimited plan. I am just saying Orcon's $99 plan is definitely tempting, especially for those who live in UFB zones.

We have released our UFB plans the other day, these could be reviewed and changed at any time.

We are still running our 20GB $69 bundle until the end of the month so it is unlikely we will have any new promotions before then, but stay posted.

I'm not entirely sure about the 'turbo' and regular options though, is it kinda like how the unlimited plan is now, with heavy shaping and whatnot?

I think I'll stick with AYCE. A large cost increase, less data, and I don't think speeds will be that much better (or necessary) with fibre

atm Youtube loads fine, as do webpages and small file downloads take only a short time

fibre would be awesome for bulk downloads, but then there is no data in those plans really...
