What's the bet this will become permanent... just like the launch mobile broadband zone pack sizes.
Don't see what the benefit in advertising "until $date" when you're likely to make it permanent. All it does is scare off potential customers who think "well, sure, but I can't be arsed changing providers every 6 months, I'll switch to whoever's non-time-limited plans are the best".
So this wouldn't entice me to switch to 2degrees. But since I'm already your customer and fully expect this will become permanent, not a problem.
it woudl be because there is a risk that a lot of their higher value customers who spend $80+ will switch down if it is permanent.
say, for example, y0ou were a business and had 5 mobiles spending $60 per month each and got your free'on account' calling. If you knew this was permanent you woudl be very tempted to switch to this prepaid offer and save yourself a heap of money every month. 2Degrees (and Telecom who have a similar offer) therefore put a timelimit on it because it
a) discourages people from trading down and
b) if too many peole do trade down, they can let it expire without having to notify hundreds of thousands of people that their plan is changing.
if the downtrades are low, then they can just extend it.
