we should be in a position to offer UFB services in at least Hamilton & New Plymouth within a few months, followed by the other UFF areas in Q3.
RalphFromSnap:
Just to clarify - we have signed with Ultrafast Fibre but still need to set up a handover connection, the good news is that this is now in-flight and we should be in a position to offer UFB services in at least Hamilton & New Plymouth within a few months, followed by the other UFF areas in Q3.
RalphFromSnap: Hi Jonathan
Palmerston North is definitely on the roadmap for us in terms of UFB. Current plans would see us delivering services there May/June this year, so if you can hold out until then we'd love to have you!
We appreciate that we have a bit of work to do with our website to make it easier to navigate, but the data packs and options are priced exactly the same for UFB as they are for copper services, so you could just use your existing address, choose ADSL, and then you can see the pack prices.
Cheers
Ralph
RalphFromSnap: Hi Jonathan
The advice from the team was right, we won't charge an ETCs if you move from ADSL to UFB mid-term. So I'd suggest a 2 year term (so you get the free FritzBox now), and when we arrive in Palmy you can go ahead and upgrade to one of our awesome UFB plans. Easy!
The call centre is open 24/7 or you can sign up on-line!
Cheers
Ralph
RalphFromSnap: Hi gmball
The Talker/Surfer was a limited time deal that has very recently ended. I couldn't possibly comment on another RSPs UFB offer but we did sign up a heap of new fibre customers today ;)
If you speak very nicely to the Call Centre team before the end of the month we should be OK to slide you a Talker or Surfer deal. Just say Ralph OK'ed it!
Cheers
heavyusr: Snap if I got fibre installed what would happen to my copper line phone service?
I was told to get fibre inside the house they use the copper cable to pull the fibre through the walls so does that mean the copper cable will be removed?
Most importantly I read that if you don't have dsl broadband because there are no ports available at the exchange and no roadside cabinet you can't get fibre. Is this correct?

Hi heayuser - if found you havent found answers elsewhere here are some quick responces to your questions from my point of view.
Chorus copper line services - if you dont need a Chorus copper line after your chorus fibre connection is installed then it can be disconnected from your house wireing by the installers and you can have it turned off by your provider (who ever it may be)
The copper cableing in your house is never pulled out (it is yours not the network companies) but the Chorus service feed cable from the road may be used to assit in pulling the new fibre connection through but in most cases will be left in, if in can be, even if it is being disconnected when the fibre connection is completed.
and lastly the Chorus fibre UFB network has nothing to do with the Chorus copper network, apart from shareing ducting etc - if you are within a built UFB build area then you can be connected to UFB even if you cant get DSL due to port availability
