Everything else seems to work.

Since installing K9 mail it seems to be working ok, emails have been coming through with no problems at all, so I'm now thinking it is a problem with the stock email client or how I set it up.

Will see over the next couple of days as in the past the stock client worked for hours and then stopped working.

then there is no problem with the data connection itself primarily. as i said perhaps a secondary disconnection

maybe check what stuff you need to sync - there is mail calendar contacts etc etc .... perhaps start with only mail?

perhaps there is a big email that the 3g can't download or upload fully (if that's the case be very afraid you would have sent gigabytes of data by now trying to sort it out!)

:)

So after it working fine while I was in Auckland and all day yesterday in Christchurch it is playing up again this morning.  Only difference is location and I had wi-fi on last night at home.  Doing a shutdown/restart now to see if the wi-fi leaves something hanging around after being switched off.

Maybe poor signal? What speed is your connection eg speed test ... which is not totally accurate but will give a good ball park

Over 4 tests ran in succession up was 745 - 1750 and down was 700 - 3590.

Since rebooting email has been coming in without a problem.

The problem seems to have disappeared.  Over the last few days emails have been coming in fine.

Just one of those things I guess.
