You don't perhaps have a download manager or online backup which ends around 9pm?

Sounds like you're going to need to fire up wireshark to see what's really going on as that trace route isn't proving much

Nah I don't have any download managers or anything running in the background,
I've also done a selective startup which didn't seem to improve anything, I've also got a 100/50 connection so I don't think bandwidth is the issue, I've never heard of wireshark but I'll give it a go now, thanks for the response!

Just running wireshark & I seem to be getting alot of "Unrecognized packet type" errors coming from the bnet servers, not sure what this means, I'll have a read up on it 2mrw, but basically every packet coming from the bnet servers to me seems to have some kind of unrecognized packet error.
