maslink:
oc35: I am in Timaru and noticed last night (Fri 9th) download speed has slowed to around 9.5mbs but upload speed seemed normal. A Timaru workmate is experiencing same situation. We have both logged fault with Snap.

Is this only a Timaru or Chorus problem?

FWIW I'm Timaru based as well...maybe a local issue?

Rang helpdesk who were aware of the issue, and were able to fix (not sure what action they took) - required a re-boot of the Fritz, but not the ONT, so looks like a profile issue.

Have just been on the phone to Snap who fixed my UFB speed issue - I'm on 100/50 and was getting 28/48.

The support guys at Snap have said that they know the issue exists and are working on a fix, however if anyone else is having this issue (UFB only) they have asked that they please email:

support@snap.net.nz

with your username and put "Geekzone - Slow UFB" in the subject line.

Doing this should help them assess and resolve the issue faster.

Just got off the phone from snap and its all fixed. Looks to have been a fault when enable networks changed around things so they can do upgrades and maintenance.

If you still having issues give them a call and they can fix.

Our UFB 100/50 connection is now pulling down 0.20Mbps (upstream still ~50Mbit though).

Just spent 20 mins waiting to talk to someone at Snap, apparently a fix had been applied and I was to wait 5-10 mins and then reboot the router. I did this, then waited another 10 mins and rebooted again, but the speed is still terrible. I'm back on the phone now, but expect it to be another 20 mins before I can actually talk to someone.

I am in the same boat...

Usually we are around 93Mbit/40Mbit but now we are like this :(

Current Speeds

It's pretty bad to say the least, have had the same response from helpdesk. Atm our net is unusable, can't update our core applications cause the connection drops out during the update. :(

Speed has returned to 100Mbit today. Not sure what was wrong.

Hi guys,

Chorus have confirmed that they replaced some equipment in the Auckland region that has resolved this issue. I've been in touch with most of the accounts reported to me, but if you are still having issues, please get in touch with us (either via phone, email or here on Geekzone) so we can investigate further.

Cheers,

Ralph

I seems that Chorus replaced a card in one of their switches in Auckland, which seems to have solved their problem.

Ralph: I spoke to someone from Snap this morning, who I told that the problem was resolved. About an hour later I got a call from Chorus saying that Snap had opened a ticket this morning (should have been opened yesterday). I'm not sure what time the ticket was opened, but the CSR should have closed it once I confirmed that the problem had been fixed.

Given that the issue appears to have occurred in Chorus and Enable areas, it seems unlikely that a Chorus switch card in Auckland could be responsible.

I'm just relaying what the Chorus CSR told me.

I'm in Dunedin, it seems to be fixed (kinda) still getting low speeds @ night time (11pm onwards) its nothing serious though. I'm just happy the 700 latency to Chch is gone.
