Thanks for the feedback. Please can you PM me the details including exact locations where it's happening plus your 2degrees number.

Cheers

KiwiSurfer:
johnr: How could prepay balance impact coverage or even a SIM card?

Last time I thought I had a faulty data connection it turned out I simply had no credit left for data. It's not always obvious to the end user that nil credit is the reason why they have no data since the text that alerts you have no credit sometimes doesn't go through quickly enough. So worth checking before reporting a fault I would think. It's definitely not the case in this situation though as it's a postpaid connection with plenty of data left.

IME a while back with 2 degrees even with credit and an available data block there will be times the data session will just not connect till the phone is cycled thru airplane mode and back, or you mess around with the APB settings to make it try again. Why they make airplane mode the only way to disable the cellular radio on phones is something I am still left wondering.

My attempts at communicating with 2 degrees call center about why I would often lose coverage for up to 5 mins at a time, even when on 2g at home got me into the CSR loop of suggestings about trying different hardware and different sims and stuff. Funny when you have already told them its multiple devices at the same time doing it. Since my nokia would always beep and light up with Select operator when it happened I changed away from them for that phone to skinny.

When I first joined 2 Degrees about three years ago I experienced that problem regularly over a few periods spanning several days or weeks. Fortunately it's not something that I've experienced in the last 18 months or so.
