Obviously not an Orcon-caused issue but no problem, a quick hardware change and a restore from his backup and he is good to go....

Yes, because you WOULD expect someone doing "work", especially one and a half years of it to have adequate backups.

That guy in the screenshot makes me </facepalm>.

You don't say?

Clearly the DoS attack is coming down from orcons tubes into PC and affecting his hard disks! Does orcon not use HDMI cables with built in antivirus for its uplinks!?

Lost DNS, was back 11ish, but no SIP authentication, that was back some time later after lunch and rebooting Genius again.
BTW Orcon guys, I noticed a ~14Mbs sync after reboot with no SIP authentication, 13Mbs after another reboot and SIP OK, do I assume the VOIP service involves a bit of traffic management in the Genius box? Just curious :)

In order to get the right answer, one must ask the right question

LOL remember people will be able to search for and find this thread long after we are all dust so best to cover the bases for all possible future readers :-)

Oh and my iphone took a dump this afternoon, clearly the same stray God particle that a) nearly knocked over ETNZ in SF and b) took out that guy's HD....

Seems to be down again right now. Changing to Google DNS works fine but Orcon fails to resolve.

Since the other thread about Orcon has been locked, anyone else just had the internet vanish 2-3 times for 5-10 minutes each time in the last hour? Maybe its to do with these dns issues you guys mention? Going to try a non Orcon DNS to see if that helps

Yeah another round. Many apologies.
We have failed queries to wellington again.

We had an attack of 6k queries/sec this morning that we passed through with no issue, this was much larger.

Don't you restrict who can perform lookups against your recursive DNS servers with a firewall?

I know some people think that placing a FW in front may slows down query times, but from all the testing we've done with BIND and DJBDNS it make zero difference at all.
