tkr001: You might like to consider your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act. If you are not getting the service you signed up for you have a right to cancel the service.....
Well I can cancel the service with a $199 fee...and I suppose they have themselves covered from this by saying they don't guarantee international speeds somewhere in their contracts (I haven't read them but I would assume so) as well as throttling/shaping (which I'm sure is the issue due to the patterns I see)
tkr001: Did they make you aware of the throttling at signup? I guess if it is in their Ts and Cs then you are trapped..... How long is your contract term? Orcon 100/50 unlimited plan is $129 per month so cheaper than Slingshot too.
Well the "plus" plan on the website USED to say that it was for heavy users and didn't have p2p throttling/shaping but I can't find that anymore (it's why I chose to pay the little bit extra for that plan) and just to be clear my speed issues aren't just with torrents it's also multithread http downloads coming down at pathetic speeds.
Now the CS rep I was on the phone to for almost an hour today mentioned that my account with them has no shaping etc (so he says) BUT it could be happening at the exchange (his words not mine) so what I'm thinking is they are doing something dirty and changing the traffic further down the line?
As for warning me no because the plan said "for heavy users no p2p shaping blah blah" but as I've been informed by somebody on my other thread they do have it written into their TS/CS so I'm fairly sure I'm trapped.
Contract runs out next Jan...ugh
Lorenceo: Mega.co.nz does have some servers in NZ.
There is a massive thread on gpforums with people complaining about poor performance on the unlimited Slingshot plan, so your poor speeds really aren't that surprising.
Yes it's unfortunate, but take it as a reminder that it's always a good idea to do research before signing a contract with any ISP.
