I have seen the odd exchange that has been upgraded to ADSL2+ that were not on the RBI upgrade list. So possibly exchanges are slowly being upgraded anyway. As for any kind of ETA, probably no way to find out.

Will 28 homes in a subdivision warrant a new cabinet? Perhaps you could make friends with someone there and do fixed wireless to their VDSL connection?

Commerce Commission UBA offering requires 32 kbps per user over a 15 min average. I suspect that meets that.

The simple reality is nothing will change. There are hundreds of exchanges and cabinets that will never be upgraded because Wireless RBI is the upgrade.

Maybe the wrong thread but here I go anyway.

Since switching to VDSL a couple of months ago, I've noticed peak time speeds dropping to ~ 200kb/sec. I was on ADSL with slingshot for the last couple of years and never had any drops in speed at all. Now, it's every night 8-11pm, 200kb/sec - although today, maybe a coincidence but 20 minutes after game of thrones comes out, I'm down to 150-200kb/sec again (the first time I've noticed it during the day). VDSL wasn't a great improvement in download speed for me, but the 5* increase in upload has been useful for using plex remotely, so I'm hesitant in requesting to go back to ADSL2.

I double checked with slingshot support that I am on the unlimited+ plan, and I don't use torrents. Is this a fault, by design or over subscription to the service?

and now, an hour and a half later, it seems to be back to normal speeds
