Great thanks for that.
I'll look into your suggestion about how we can get round this PPP server authentication thing.

We really want to stay with Snap as they have the best reputation, from looking into the options. They have also done a good plan for us. It's just that enough is becoming enough.

Just for my interest have been reading over Chorus service descriptions. Looks like Boost VDSL would be useful, as it is delivered as an ethernet product rather than PPPoA. However I'm not sure it is available yet or how much it would cost.

um. last i checked, PPPoA isnt used on vdsl at all.

We've also been pushing at getting our own gear into the exchange. Stonewalled by Chorus on this. Anyone had experience on getting their gear into an exchange?

We're also starting to talk with our strategic partners about bypassing the Chorus network altogether. When Marconi got his radio networks going back in the day the cable companies used every trick to try to stop him. Didn't work, and Chorus' rear-guard actions aren't going to work either in the long run.

VDSL2 doesn't use PPPoA

All EUBA products (ADSL2+ and VDSL2) are pure Ethernet products. The choice of authentication, whether it be DHCP, PPPoE or IPoE is up to the ISP.

If you do PPPoA over a "pseudo" ADSL2+ EUBA connection (ie ADSL2+ not using VLAN10 tagging on the standard 0/100 VCI) the PPPoA is actually converted to PPPoE by the ISAM.

There is nothing particularly complex about getting equipment into Chorus exchanges. You simply complete the on-boarding process and pay the prices that are in their pricebook.

Thank you. Looks like this could be my project for the next week.
Ah well... more fun than setting up dozens of ATAs which is what I was supposed to be doing
