I don't think we will be seeing "bites" around here again. As he stated in a comment in my blog he's removing Geekzone from his bookmarks because he didn't like what I wrote about Slingshot.

Its not a case of "what I like" freitasm .. it was the complete lack of any detail beyond one user experience to from which you somehow came to the conclusion that slingshot is blocking traffic.... which is wildly incorrect.

I've come to read your blog, articles and I subscribe to your RSS feed, alot of which contain useful and insightful information and its good to keep your eye on what the industry is up to ... however...

This most recent post is far from what I've come to expect of someone who operates (as the name implys ) a zone for geeks.... it contains very little solid data ... and completely incorrect information.

This site has gone from a tech site with objective views to "its not WXC so it must be terrible...." ... sad really, you've just lost another engineer from an ISP other than just WXC .. but hey .. who cares about diversity anyway.

I would have to agree with bites on this one.. that article did indeed contain VERY little evidence.. If anything it would appear you are bad mouthing most of WXC's major compition is some sort of half arse attempt to help them get ahead?

Bites, I think you are way out in your views. "its not WXC so it must be terrible" is such a generalisation that I am really surprised you, coming from Slingshot, managed to get at it.

I can't find anywhere on Geekzone where we say "its not WX so it must be terrible". I read lots of poster saying WXC provides good service, and is a true alternative to some ISPs.

Unfortunately your employer is one of the ISP who chose to never interact with the community here, and instead of saying this kind of things you (as in the company) should have been working on how to connect with customers.

Shame on Slingshot for showing its face here on Geekzone for the first time on such a bad note from someone claiming to work for them.

If this is the kind of thiking inside Slingshot...

Wow ....
Guess you dont read your own forum thoroughly?

On top of that ... WXC do not operate their own forums .. they piggy back on yours .... We however do run our own forums and have been providing feedback to our customers on those ...

However .. as I'm a caring sort .. on a number of occasions I've posted on topic in regards to Slingshot.

As far as I'm aware .... (and I was the one working on the issue) this was actually resolved Thursday last week .. which is why I'm interested and have requested more details from the user so we can resolve it .... you see me do this on most posts here .. and on our own forums.

freitasm:

From the same IP?

I doubt it .. since I'm on an spepcifc IP address (Which I'm sure you can see in the logs ... neat!) and all staff are via the firewalls/proxy.... however I cant speak for every staff member and their personal opinion of your post....

If its not "Wx etc etc" then why are you continuing to attempt to ostracize by making an example of this one users problem? ... Should we start listing the other ISP's issues? ...

Meerly my opinion of your lack-luster post about one user, as stated I'm more dissapointed than "upset" as you stated ...

It's funny how Geekzone are apparently always in the pocket of an ISP. First it was Xtra now it's Xnet.

But I can see how people would assume that given they actively participate in this community. They are not loved by all, many people disagree with some of their policies but they have the foresight to join in and receive feedback, the good and bad from customers. There are many things they have acted on after things being posted here so much respect to them for that.

I think Slingshot could benefit from doing the same but it looks like you guys have already buried your heads in the sand

Guess you can't read then? You say "This site has gone from a tech site with objective views to "its not WXC so it must be terrible...." now this is not "the" site opinion.

These are user posts.

What would you (or Slingshot) want me to do? Censor users who are unhappy with your services?

bites: On top of that ... WXC do not operate their own forums .. they piggy back on yours .... We however do run our own forums and have been providing feedback to our customers on those ...

They don't "piggy back". We agreed they would have a forum here due to the reach of Geekzone in terms of number of users. I don't see why use this term, when it's obviously working well for them.

Perhaps you should try and be nice to your customers too?

Great, so instead of lashing on a rant like you did in my blog, why not explain this and make it nicer? Now everyone reading my blog, my Twitter, Facebook, Jaiku and Pownce know about Slingshot and how I really didn't like the "approach".

And you know what? It's a lot of people... I am speaking at TUANZ tomorrow about User Generated Content and a second session on Corporate Blogging. Perhaps you should send someone to listen?

bites: If its not "Wx etc etc" then why are you continuing to attempt to ostracize by making an example of this one users problem? ... Should we start listing the other ISP's issues? ...

For instance there are posts about WXC performance problems, and those were addressed directly by WXC management. Just an example of a much better interaction between provider and customer.

Why do I get the feeling you're just pissed off that Slingshot are getting well deserved bad publicity, if it was happening to another ISP would you make such a fuss? I doubt it.

Give up on your rant, although it does make for a good reflection on your employer

Well deserved? .. Who is being unfair again? Ah .... "administrator" attacking me about your forums/blog ... nearly the same as what I'm doing ... after all .. if I said it about someone elses blog would you make such a fuss? ... please .. refrain from being abusive.

Feel free to contact me directly, freitasm or any troubled slingshot user I supply all my contact details freely and easily so users can contact me and ask queries, preferrably via our own forums .. a medium we do check ... other than me personally visiting their homes.  I dont see how other than having our heldpesk techs constantly patrolling your forums as somehow being the benchmark of "good customer service"... your being very unfair in regards to responding to the community ... I personally manage the forums and personally respond to queries from customers, if a helpdesk team member says something incorrect .. all I can do is hope to track down the details and get it resolved .... which as I've stated a number of times I'm trying to do ...

Go back to my blog and read what you wrote there. Very abusive. I should have you banned first thing instead of going this long. But hey, great to learn how people think there.

Thanks for the fish.

Yes, that so true. Everyone know's it's in microsofts pocket.

I have to say Bites and an aggressive personan but that's just him, his PR has it's moments,  if he did go from geekzone, well umm it would be good for his stress levels.

I haven't had any issues worth complaining with my ISP, oh apart from the MAN in the VAN, that's kind of sexist but umm am I heading off topic.

And you know what? When I write that Microsoft Live products are a mess people comment in my blog that I am anti-Microsoft.

I love how people like to label others based on a single sentence or less...

But please back on topic. If there's nothing about the specific topic posted then we should continue somewhere else. This has been one page too long already.

I'm not saying that you don't put in some pretty mean hours bites, because I have seen you go that extra bit,
putting together a slingshot community forum that can off people another channel to sort out there issues.
That's wonderful stuff and you put a very human face on it, normally it the PRopper business mask interface,
like helpdesk starf. You have a style Bites. I've you on msn but never found the need to take your time, even with a realtime hi.

I withdraw and apoligies Mr freitasm for my random assoication regarding ms and the geekzone. I'll go wait in the car.
