Yes, apparently they no longer do the install as standard, you'll need to pay extra if you want one.

No you don't use a phone filter (I assume you mean the plug in one for ADSL? No don't use it)

Now I am confuse. If I were to sign up to 2Degree and best connection on my street is VDSL, you mean I have to fork out $ for the splitter.

my ADSL filter not usable, so 12 month contract free installation is a joke? not to mention adding $15 to courier for the 7490 modem as well.

VDSL works without a master splitter, however if your internal wiring is dodgy it may not be as fast or reliable as it could be with the splitter, dedicated cable and jackpoint. They've apparently stopped providing splitters as standard. It isn't free for an ISP to have them installed.

I changed plan from old unlimited snap plan to 2degrees unlimited by clicking the options. Chose no modem no contract. Still have Internet. will see what the next bill is.

Have not had to call them about anything and if I can't resolve any issues online I will just cancel it and pay bigpipe for a real IP and use that connection.

Shock: I changed over and it was not a good experience. Moved from the 100/50 Snap Fibre to 200/200 2 Degrees Naked Fibre.

Issues encountered:

  • phone stayed connected despite being requested to disconnect
  • billed incorrectly every month since (being charged for phone I no longer have)
  • told I had to wait till next billing period started to move from Snap to 2 Degrees plans
  • moved suddenly without any notice after being told above
  • helpdesk Tech's noticeably new and unable to help due to new restrictions
  • started to have technical issues (reference).
So yeah overall definitely a degradation in service from the Snap way. If it wasn't for the twitter team I would be with a different ISP right now.

Mate, I have just experienced all these problems and more. I'm currently looking for a new ISP.

I did the request to change to a 2degrees plan 6 weeks ago.
My account still says "Change Pending"..... Guess I'll ring them (again)

Check the payments tab - it would have gone through if adjustments to charges are recorded. Under my account it still says pending that despite the change from old snap 100/50 plan to new 2degrees 200/200 went through.

JUPITER2K: Can anyone here confirm new VDSL connection no more get the filter/splitter installed ?
Instead just using the same old phone filter.

Hey Jupiter,

At present we don't include a VDSL Splitter/Internal wiring installation as part of our package (like we did as Snap).

VDSL will still work fine without a splitter as long as you don't have a Home Phone Basic (POTS) phone connection or a monitored alarm. A splitter can also be beneficial if your wiring isn't the best or if you have more than a couple of jackpoints, however its not required, so it could be an option to see how it goes, and if it ismn't performing well you can check out a splitter installation.

We can do this at any time for you through Chorus at $199, or you can arrange to get this done privately which can be a bit cheaper.

Hey Arthur, can you please PM us your account? In some circumstances the status in the online portal has stuck as pending despite the changes being completed, I'll be able to get this status cleared for you.

Hey Shock, can you please also PM your account? We'll get this checked out for you and make sure everything is as it should be

Thanks everyone,

Yes, that stays for both ipv4 and ipv6, at the exact same cost.
