Beat me to it - yes, we are live...

Rambaldi - the sales team have your details and will be in touch

I'm on the site now, don't want to miss out, should I fill in the form or will it be quicker through the sales team? Also sent you a private message.

Edit: Nevermind I can see existing customers can't complete the signup process. Hope I hear from the sales team soon.

I'm keen for this but am only 3 mo the into a 12 month contractor with a small, local ISP - bad wifi coverage from my modem, about 2mbps top speed when downloading files and annoyingly frequent buffering on video content from FB or YouTube.

I don't have a copy of my contract to hand - they never emailed me one and their website doesn't contain their t&cs - but can anyone advise what the usual protocol is for early termination? Is it standard break fee or recoup amount of lost revenue (i.e. 9x $99)

Had a call from Orcon sales today to say my order needed to be recreated as it was done "incorrectly".  All I did online was choose a new connection, it asked me if I'm an existing customer and to login so I did, and then it put me into My Orcon for my existing connection, with no option to upgrade from there.

So I tried again and selected new customer, and on the next screen I was able to put in my existing account number and move forward through the process.

Gotta say the process is not intuitive if you're an existing customer.  Heads up to anyone giving it a go themselves.  At least they called me proactively today, but I missed the call and was left a voicemail. When I returned the call and asked to speak to the person in sales it was a LONG wait and a lot of  "umm's" and "ahh's" until they figured out the right people to put me through to, and even they in sales sounded very tentative about their confidence in the booking process.

Oh well, I've never been with Orcon for the customer service, just the internet service, so I guess a little pain and frustration on the process side isn't a big deal.  I'll probably feel that even more once I run that speed test on day one... and again when I sign back into my Xbox Live account on the new One S having been on a PS4 for the last 18 months :D

Once your logged onto My Orcon you are given an plan change option, you select it and if your on fibre it specifically says you have to call them. I tried to do it your way and yeah, said you can't so rang

Important to read and understand the fine print before signing-up of course.

The term Gig describes the category of product, actual broadband speeds will always be less than 1Gbps due to restrictions of this generation of technology.

And note well the $500 early termination fee. Ouch...

That's only only on the 24 month contract which I assume helps recover the cost of the XBOX One you could with that contract.

A note to Orcon as well, your "terms and conditions" IVR at the contact center still states an ETF of between $149 and $199.

I suspect that anyone that agree's to this during the signup / upgrade process could legally get out of your new $250 and $500 ETF.

if thats your only problem, changing ISP wont help. Your best bet would be to move your WiFi access point closer to your bedroom or run an ethernet cable from your existing router and put in a new access point where there is bad coverage :)

So fibre wasn't working when I got home from work today.  Did all the usual checks and restores, no change.  Rang Orcon, 1st level know jack all as usual.  I suspect what's happened is my connection has been upgraded to gig prematurely and because I haven't received the modem yet I can't use it.  Very disappointing given I was assured on the phone by Orcon Sales that this wouldn't happen.  The usual story with Orcon though, I don't use them for the customer service.

Might be prepared to give Orcon a pass on this one... :)

Looks like the modem has been "Out for Delivery" since 8:30am today.  Had NZ Post held up their end of the bargain then I'm sure I'd be online with gigabit right now!

Ah well, at worst I'll be tethering tonight and it should show up first thing tomorrow morning if the courier has decided I'm in the too hard basket for today.

Depending on where you are you might be able to do a depot pickup, the depot for my area (Albany) closes at 6PM and I regularly pickup from there on my way home from work.

^I would if the courier had actually been to my place and left a card.  I suspect it's still in the courier's van for delivery either tonight or in the morning.  The tracking says it's still out too, so even though the depot isn't far (I'm in Khandallah and it's in Kaiwharawhara) I can't be bothered showing up on the off chance.  Plex works on my internal LAN, and I'm tethering to my iPhone, so I'm covered for the night :)
