I was a Snap customer for a couple of years (I think) before they were bought out by 2 Degrees, and I certainly noticed a significant change in call centre wait times, and the helpfulness and knowledge of the staff after the takeover.

TBH, I don't think I've dealt with a more friendly and helpful call centre than Snap's - calls usually answered within seconds , personable and chatty staff who would work to sort out a problem until it was fixed. Post 2-degrees takeover it became more like ringing any other ISP I've been with - a frustrating experience best to be avoided if at all possible.

That said, at least I could talk to someone - I'm not yet sold on the requirement to sort out any issues with my ISP (BP) via email, but that's something I knew before signing up, and luckily the service has been reliable thus far.

Getting connected with BigPipe soon. Once you have experienced the helpdesk via phone at Orcon then email isn't so bad.

True that! I was with Orcon for a while - if Snap provided my best helpdesk experience, Orcon was certainly the worst. Absolutely incompetent nincompoops.

Then again Slingshot wasn't much better... and don't get me started on Vodafone!

I think that's why Snap was such a breath of fresh air - the standard is set so low...

I've been with Slingshot a number of years now, haven't had any billing issues at all. The only real issue I ran into was when moving house and that wasn't even Slingshot, it was the fact the technician cut over the neighbors house to our connection as we are down a shared driveway.

This will be re-evaluated when UFB becomes available at this end of the street. Never going back to Orcon though, that was all problems all the time.

I had been with Snap a few years before they were bought by 2 Degrees, I have noticed no change at all in the service I get from them, no price changes either.

Have you called them?

It still is working really well, but IME from one time calling and from other peoples reports it is not anywhere near the same as when it was snap.

Not at the offshore bad phoneline cant hear them and they dont listen stage, but long wait, reluctance to log fault unless I had completed their script of pointless actions etc.

Yes I have called them before, and found no issues with service.

dukester: Because of ongoing issues I left Slingshot and joined Two Degrees, my experience at Two Degrees has been a 100% positive one.

This was exactly my experience...except they were still Snap then.

I moved over and saw an instant 15mb jump in VDSL performance on the same line, more consistent performance and speeds on streaming and gaming even through peak times and it is slightly cheaper...

Can't comment on customer service as I haven't had cause to use it yet...unlike with Slingshot!

My grudge with Slingshot goes back 12+ years, but they will never EVER get a cent from me. Back when it somehow made sense for our household to have two copper lines for dial up Slingshot got absolutely hosed at peak times - while E3 was rock solid on the same line and equipment. Slingshot phone service ended up admitting the problem was theirs, and said they didn't care and wouldn't do anything about it.

Yeah, sorry no. They might have changed hands several times - like the fish & chips that sold us chips that had barely been shown the luke warm oil - but like the chip shop I ain't ever going back there.
