Intravix Considering how many services some have over their handovers, you'd think that $200 extra wholesale for the HOP (plus cost of capacity on their side) wouldn't be a big deal. You get 10x the capacity for only 3x the price of the HOP, I get that it is a low margin market, but cents per each service to improve or keep a good reputation is good value.

A 10gb HOL is a bit more expensive than 3x a 1gb as you have optics, plus backhaul from LFC Point of interconnect to your BNG and the cost per port on your BNG.
Things also get real if you've run out of ports on your BNG as that means a new card or whole new BNG and that can be quite expensive. Some one off costs and many ongoing for no increased revenue with fixed margins.

With the number of fibre areas across the country the costs to horizontally scale to each area isn't trivial.

given the thread on here about someone and their stuff fibre connection i think its a valid point to make. there is an extra step required in some of the communication which can make the process take longer than it would with other ISP's who dont have this extra step.

A question I would ask of any future ISP is what is type of handover I would be connected to (1gb vs 10gb) and what is their contention ratio.
I doubt any ISP will tell you and Truenet should be only used as a guide to go by as they don't have probes with every ISP on every handover. But should give you a general gist of how the ISP performs. As does this forum from general bleating about performance.

There has been at least one thread on here where somebody had an issue and stuff fibre couldn't help them with very basic provisioning question. This is because stuff don't operate their own network and instead wholesale from another party (Vocus).
Realistically this is the only way they could be 'nationwide' at launch but it does mean incredibly inefficient support is going to be the result because the number you call for stuff won't be able to help you for anything more than 'restart your router'.

If the property I am moving into already had fibre installed, what would be the lead time to have internet up and running with BigPipe? Moving in on the the 29th of this month, should I place the order a couple of days before moving in?

Just sign up with BigPipe specifying the date when you move in (can be done during the signup process) and they'll take care of the rest. So you're telling me I'll be disappointed in the performance?

Can you share your source for this claim?

I'm trying to get an understanding of what exactly I will be missing out on, so far all I can tell is the support will be semi bad and a fixed public IP because of CG-Nat.

Don't get me wrong guys, I'd love to be with Bigpipe and I am currently with ADSL, but they can't offer me Fibre, I need no contract and want fibre, ADSL blows so bad.

Who cares about their news site clickbait? I'm looking for a viable ISP.
