DarkShadow: Do you get exactly 100Mbps speed or around 93Mbps?

Generally sits bang on 94

OK that indicates the issue is inside your house. Either between the ONT and the router, or the router and your computer. Something isn't getting gigabit.

Are you with Chorus?

Enable

Ignore what was said above regarding orange light, that doesn't apply to you. Enable ONT lights are always green.

On your computer (assuming Windows), go to Start > View Network Connections > Double click your network card, what does it says under Speed?

Says 1Gbps

OK, so this means the problem is between your ONT and your router.

Check the following:

-Router is not randomly switching its WAN port to 100Mbps (check settings/ swap router)

-Cable is not dodgy (make sure to use a name brand cable and not a 2 dollar shop one)

-ONT is not faulty (get 2d to log a fault for you once you confirmed the above.)

Doesn't appear to be automatically switching. I've tried a number of different cables. ONT is pretty much the only thing I haven't changed. A shame you can't source them separately.

It sounds like you got a bad  or faulty Ethernet cable. Cat5 needs all 4 twisted pairs working or it will drop to 100Mbit.

You can try cat6 or just another cable.

Literally tried 20 or so different cables.

Has the router got a status page to check the link speed on the WAN port?

What speed does your computer show the NIC is connected at if you plug it directly into the ONT? If it's 100Mbps using the same cable that gives 1Gbps to your router, the ONT is either misconfigured or faulty. Both of which will require your ISP to log a fault with the LFC.

Is that as easy as plugging the ont straight into my laptop to check?

Yes.

If that negotiates at 100Mbps the first thing I'd to is check you haven't somehow bent the RJ45 socket pins on the ONT.

If it negotiates at 1Gbps I'd check the RJ45 socket pins on the router to make sure you haven't bent any.

If it makes you feel any better I am having a very similar problem with 2degrees gigabit fiber plan. I seem to be stuck on my old speed profile of 200/20. Nothing has seem to fix it despite many calls to 2degrees, running through all the same trouble shooting with a new call rep. Chorus have even checked the cabinet up the road. At a lost really. Considering changing providers to see if that fixes anything.

If I knew what that was, I would happily tell you. It's a confusing bloody router to set up, I had to get my cousin that works for Chorus to do it and even that took him 3 hours to do. Some weird settings in odd places. But she's a great router.

In a cabnet?

On the wall?

In the roof?

if its in a confined space maybe its overheating?

Oh the other thing since i think you are a enable customer is if you still have your workorder number maybe you could send a text and check your db loss level incase its above the max threshold and possibly causing packet loss on the optical side?

"sg xxxxxx" to 4096 it is a pay service xxxxxx = enable work order, this was included in the orignal email sent by enable.
