sidefx:

The issues I was having at the time though were extremely annoying in that my 2 degrees phone would sometimes say it had good or even great signal but data just refused to work, while my work phone on vodafone worked perfectly and friends spark phones also worked fine.

I've been with 2degrees coming up 6 years and have been looking to jump ship due to the same issues.
2degrees only has coverage in the main town area here, as soon as I travel outside of that I roam onto Vodafone and data is hit and miss.
Signal can be showing full bars but data just refuses to do anything.

Also in fringe areas where it gets a hint of 2degrees signal it tries to stay connected to 2deg or switches back and forth making calling and data use near impossible.

If 2degrees have their own good coverage in your area it'd be fine, if you'd be relying on VF roaming, be wary.

tripp: ... So any feedback would be great :)

I've used 2D pretty much since they started.

  • I've seen 4G available on my phone before I've seen it on the Spark based work phone.
  • They were the first to introduce data roll over, iirc
  • They introduced the data clock
  • They introduced these recently new data offerings

For me, that's enough of a innovator / challenger attitude, that I'm willing to give them my business. I must admit, I don't travel out of town much & during the week its to work & back home.

  1. In the last two years, they didn't have great prepaid plans for data
  2. The change of the billing system can be considered a disaster. There is still functionality missing from their web site that was previously available from the accounts page.
  3. I've never had long wait times, but my son has complained about 20 - 40 minute wait times when calling customer support. I think Sparks 123 support line has longer wait times, but Spark at least offers the call back feature "without losing your place in the queue".

YMMV
