@dt You have a sticky IP which is why it hasn't changed.

If you move house or change technology this will get lost.

Just wondering how long Orcon Fibre activation would take? I currently have Fibre with Spark , so is there any down time during the change over? Whats the time line like?

Should be very quick, though make sure you don't cancel with your current provider. The GSP (Gaining Service Provider - Orcon) should notify the LSP (Losing Service Provider). Be aware that ISP's traditional bill in advance, so you may end up with some overlap in your bill.

Hey @donaldjboyer,

What @networkn has said is correct.

Anything fibre related that has been installed - the turn around time can be within the day. This isn't the case with us most of the time as we generally require you to use one of our modems, it can take a few working days to get out to you. The last thing we want is to transfer your service and have it be unusable until our hardware arrives.

Our billing is one month in advance so on your first bill you'll get the portion from your connection date until the billing date, and another full month.

Let me know if you had any other questions!

Cheers,

Matt

OK, so am I correct in thinking Orcon sends out the modem and a few days later (after modem has arrived) the connection is changed over?

To be honest, whilst in theory its possible to be changed same day, very few if any ISPs will agree to this, as there is still an internal process to be completed at their end. Telling a customer same day is just ASKING to disappoint someone.

Always better to under promise and over deliver.

@mattegreen

Signed up this morning. When the form asked for installation date, I left it on the default of ASAP. I'm guessing that allows you guys to set what's best?

Will Orcon advise the actual connection date? (Currently have Spark Fibre so no install needed)

Thanks for your help.

Donald

@donaldjboyer

Yup that is right, our system will set a date a few days out for the modem to arrive.

Once that is confirmed you'll get a text and email confirmation.

No problem at all - if you need further help or clarification at all, just let me know.

Matt
