If you explain to the 2degrees support rep that you were with them before CGNAT was implemented, and now the service you need doesn't work, they'll often assign a static IP free of charge. Based on previous posts it does seem to be a bit hit and miss depending on who you speak to. Not sure if there is someone from 2degrees on here anymore that can help you out directly.

Also on two degrees an I have a similar issue with port 8081 and 32400 using a Fritxbox, it used to work earlier on in the year but stopped at some point. Using duckdns and ports are forwarded on the router. still been scratching my head trying to figure it out

CGNAT was implemented in time in 2019 for Rugby World Cup 2019 (20 Sep 2019 – 2 Nov 2019), with the final migrations completed in February 2020 from memory.....

There's nothing bad about an inbound SMB connection from AzureFiles, Managed & Secured by Microsoft.  Exposing an SMB3 share yourself directly to the internet, Yes is a bad idea.

Yeah sounds about right, I had server problems that also added to the delay of troubling shooting, and then add lockdown which limited the requirements of remote access.

Update:

Gave @2degrees a call and tested by putting on a static IP, everything worked as previously but they wanted me to fork out the extra $ to add a static IP, guess the hunt is on for an ISP that provides dynamic IP (seems like it might be a bit difficult)

Edit: Dynamic DNS is not Dynamic IP

Provide dynamic dns?, you mean they provide a dynamic ip and you provide the dns tracker.

Spark, voda, slingshot all can do that for you.

I think he just wants a public ip, no need to be static as he can resolve it via ddns

Ok, Public then. This need to be very clear because ISPs will make a distinction between public and dynamic - for all intents an IP behind CGNAT is dynamic.

either static or dynamic, just don't want to fork out extra $

It's strange I've been with two degrees for at least 2.5 years but couldn't get the "loyalty" static IP fee wavered

@dryburn If you've been with 2degrees for that long:

1) Call them up, explain you're leaving them unless if they apply a Static IP to your account.
2) If they don't do that for you - move to Voyager (https://voyager.nz) who don't do CG-NAT, and have a one-off cost of $14.95 for a Static IP.

But now got to ask - why are you only doing something about this now? If you state you've had the problem since they switched on CG-NAT in February then why not call then? There was plenty of information regarding the switch.

To the contrary, apart from the discussion on Geekzone and an article added to their help & support site they didn't communicate the change to the public / existing customers at all. They said they chose to do this intentionally as not to confuse the 99% of customers it wouldn't impact (which personally I think is fair enough).

Originally thought it was problem with the server and then with the lockdowns, didn't need the remote access as much, then got the server worked again and everything worked well while at home but not outside the network. basically it was in the too hard pile and didn't have the time to tutu around till things slowed down a bit
