I agree ISP's shouldn't be the internet police and should really just be concerned with providing a good service.

Orcon seem to be taking a pragmatic and sensible approach to network management and are more open about what they are doing than most other ISP's in NZ.  You can read blog posts on how their setup works for example.

Haven't been able to connect to any torrents for over a week now.. we pay for this f*cking bandwith, so let us use it. It's not even illegal torrents, it's any bit torrent files

Hi all!

I would be really interested in this plan from Orcon:
http://www.internetchoice.co.nz/broadband-comparison-breakdown.php?ispid=7&planid=93

How old is this plan? Is it a new product, or not? Can anyone confirm they used this plan for the last 6 months at least with litlle or not noticeable traffic management towards p2p?

I currently pay same amount with Woosh (wired) for 10GB/month only.
Very good speeds I would say, no problems at all, it is just the traffic limit offered by Orcon...
Speed tests usually in the range of 3Mb/s d/l (currently with Woosh - I used to be Quicksilver customer and Woosh took over Quicksilver);

Old product - it's gone for new customers.

You can check out the broadband plan comparison tables - click on the link in my signature :) (and if you're prepared to move your phone, see the Phone + Internet section too)
