Hey all, I originally made one of the older posts regarding this issue and just wanted to provide an update. as of tonight (21/11/2022) my routing appears to be back to normal.

it appears that what ever issues were occurring with the routing from twelve99 is no longer affecting my network, and I am still on my static ip.

Hopefully, this will end these poor routing issues for everyone, not just myself.

Are you able to do a traceroute to 208.103.169.97 to compare?

unfortunately, that routing still seems to be very slow, I'm unfamiliar with 'rustoria' but it seems like I'm getting routed to Germany and then hitting a wall of request timeouts (hit the 30 hop default limit as you can see below).

(ignore the slow response from my router, I'm using a powerline ethernet adapter 😒)

I will add that even though the routing for myself appears to be resolved it is intermittently hitting period of higher latency (approximately a 40ms increase)

Do people still use powerline adapters? Last time I used one it basically DoS'd the router.

Rustoria is just a gaming community, they host various servers around the world. That specific server is in Dallas so it's very weird that it's hitting a PoP in Germany. (The provider they use is on an Anycast network - hence why traceroutes look a little weird). It doesn't look like the routing for static IP's is fixed in this instance, I did reach out to 2D by email on the 15th and I didn't get a reply. I'd highly recommend removing your static IP if you aren't needing it

They are still better than wifi at my current residence.😅

Personally CGNat is not a viable option for me long term, i did consider moving off the static just to confirm that it was the static ip being misrouted but when i did give 2D support a call it was 'entertaining' to say the least. They couldnt find a static ip on my account for the first 30 minutues... Not sure if they have any support staff left who actually know what a static IP is...

One thing i did consider with the above is the potential that rustoria are doing something akin to blackhole routing, treating the static subnet as bad. Might be worth emailing their support and confirming they arent intentionally routing this traffic into nothing?

I have direct communication with the provider, I got him to check it out and he stated he found nothing on his side and also emailed 2D twice (and they didn't respond) so I'd assume he hasn't got anything setup like that. I've stated previously in this post that I had the same issue with various providers, pretty much a coinflip when it came to good vs bad routing. I do wish I kept note of some examples for you to try out but it's a bit too late for that now :(

Just be thankful you haven't been on Vocus 9790 the last few days in the North Island... Although that issue doesn't seem to be effecting the retail brands though otherwise there would be uproar here. Something for the 2 Degrees customers to look forward to!

What's going on with VOCUS? They are a pretty significant backbone in NZ from my understanding

Nothing wrong with Vocus over here. What do you mean by 9790?

Intermittent routing causing disruption to a lot of traffic to Aus/elsewhere from NI. Significant in network size and revenue sure...

Are they getting DDoS'ed or something?

I've noticed Voyager have also pulled a lot of Vocus international routes in the last few weeks, traffic from various American/European content providers and IXes is now via Spark Global-Gateway.

Nothing really wrong over here, other than a few disconnections and some packet loss

What are the destinations? What network are you on (2Deg/Callplus Group) and location?
