You guys are missing the point - they are not pitching the launch at data, otherwise 3G would have been live from the get-go.
The launch is pitched fairly and squarely at casual calling/txt. In fact pitched to encourage people to start calling more often than they txt now (hence "chinwag") ....
I thought this thread was about 2degrees NOT having data service.
I'm not trying to defend 2degrees pricing in any way, but shouldn't their data rates be compared to the other network's overage (or off-plan/no deals) data rates? They already told us they wouldn't be focusing on data at the start, so it should come as no surprise that they're not announcing a similar 'casual data' deal.

Totally agree that they are not aiming at that segment of the market, but there were quite a few people on this forum who were hoping for some competitive data rates, and nto only is their data not significantly cheaper than XT or Voda, but it is massively more expensive for just about anybody who uses more than ~1MB a day.
There will no doubt be quite a few disspaointed iphone users who were hoping for more.

Why on earth would you want to use an iPhone on a GSM network when there are already 2 3G networks live, one of which will offer you nationwide 3G?
No idea, but I distinctly remember a few posts from people (can;t remember if it was this forum, or somewhere else) asking if 2D would be supporting the iphone, and quite a few people hoping for cheap data plans.
