I don't want to dis 2degrees so early, but the last sentence make them look a bit hypocritical for doing per minute billing.

I was a little concerned about this and still am.

But as my friend said:

0:59 on Vodafone, 89c
1:01 on Vodafone, 1.78

0:59 on XT, 89c
1:01 on XT, 90c

0:59 on 2 Degrees, 44c
1:01 on 2 Degrees, 88c

To extrapolate,

2:01 on Vodafone, $2.67
2:01 on XT, $1.79
2:01 on 2 Degrees, $1.32

Vodafone costs as much as XT, and 2 Degrees is cheapest in the above example.

I remember an online ad campaign where XT compared the price of a minute and 21 second call on XT with a minute and 21 second call on Vodafone. XT was charging by the second after the first minute and Vodafone wasn't.

Anyoone got a copy of this ad? It was posted somewhere in the Telecom forum, can't remember where...

When did Vodafone start per second billing? It certainly wasn't the case and they haven't promoted such a change.

Got the wrong information from Paul Brislen... Supa Prepay is minute and minute, so the first set of figures stand.

From memory I heard a quote floating around that minute rounding added on average 25% to the cost of a phone bill.

I did a hunt for the NBR article but it didn't hit googles caches yet, or was flushed. :-( There is no where to read it online. Shocking! There must be one copy somewhere.

Supa Prepay is minute plus minute. The older PP plans are, I believe, minute plus second.

My fault.

I really hate to say it, but it truly worries me when a random member of the public with a keen eye (me) corrects the External Communication Manager of a multi-national.

Now I can't confirm what Paul said, because after all this is reported second hand via Juha (who I don't know).

But unless there has been a MAJOR change to Supa Prepay (which post-dates the following information from their website gathered TODAY), then the information I posted is indeed correct:

And second by second billing on account? Are you sure about that?

I'm concerned:

1. If Paul really said this, then what is the meaning behind it? Is it a malicious attempt at spreading misinformation? Or does he really not know??

2. What was the question asked to Paul by juha? I am after all on MotorMouth prepay and DO have per second billing, but we can only compare CURRENT, not LEGACY plans after all.

I reserve my judgement as this is second hand information from juha, and am happy to be corrected if I made any errors.

The point of the comparison above was to say that DESPITE the per minute billing on 2 degrees, you are still never worse off at the end of the day (being my friend's point).

I know Juha and he's quite capable. I know Paul as well and he's the same.

I don't think it was something to worry about. He came here and corrected the information.

Reality is (and it was) there is an awful lot of plans, enough to confuse anyone. So give him a chance.

I think all those plans should die, die, die and be unified in a single thing with add-ons. It's just "confusion".
