Lammiwinks: Did you ever have any luck with this? Its the exact same issue im having on orcon!

Who?

Just in case you mean me, the answer is "NO".

Youtube speeds are OK. Our line is OK. At peak times our service is much degraded compared with mid-Feb and earlier.

Orcon engineers are helpful but mystified. Something happened in Feb, but I'm not even sure if the network engineers know what it was/is.

Looks like upstream issues/changes to me.

Can you describe in any more detail?

P

Hey mate! See my thread here - http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=82&topicid=58594

I agree, all was fine till february (my orcon connection used to be awesome).

I've just signed up for SNAP, I will let you know if it makes any difference!

Thanks - good read. Very similar experience.

Please post back with your SNAP feedback.

Cheers

Orcon speeds improved.

Credit where credit is due - our experience over the last day or so - even at peak times - is that speed has noticeably improved. Maybe 90% of where it was when it was "pretty good".

So what's changed?

May be a slight delay on this. They are having issues as Orcon uses their own equipment, not Telecom wholesale, and to swap me back onto Telecom wholesale (to use SNAP) its gonna involve rewiring!

On the phone to them currently seeing how we can sort it out! Looks like I may have to pay the $149 wiring fee! EEK!

Good news is the rewiring may fix any other issues around the line!

Yes mine seems to have been a bit better...it's now working fine all weekend and only having issues at peak times on weeknights!
