Still no internet.
Slingshot claim it is up and running and was provisioned on the 5th (or 6th depending on who I talk to). The working Belkin router I have tried with multiple different cables is reporting link down and getting no ADSL activity at all. To confirm it is still working I have tried it on a friend's Slingshot and Telecom ADSL services (which I assume are identical in delivery anyway).
Slingshot say they will sort out a technician to come by and confirm the issue if the problem is further along than the exchange, but haven't given me an ETA or an idea of when the internet will be available.
Since the flat relies on the internet for accounting purposes and I also have two heavy internet users apparently suffering from withdrawl I am getting a little bit annoyed. This process has now taken over two weeks from initially signing up to Slingshot, dealing with Telecom and now finding we need an additional tech over to confirm the line is working as intended. On top of that, now that we no longer have phone services on the line we can't use 56k as a stop gap for emails and accounting in the meantime :(
I don't blame Slingshot for the first step of the process even if they should change the policy regarding an active phone line, but this is really starting to add up and I hope they can resolve this soon.
k14: Should have gone with worldexchange...
Not interested in Xnet's plans and prices despite their customizability. Also, although it sounds like they are easier to interface with initially I know and have heard of quite a few people on Xnet who have had connections cut off in the past for dodgy downloading (Of course I doubt this will be an issue on our network). It sounds like their services are otherwise very good and I will be compelled to switch in the event that these problems aren't resolved soon.
