SteveON: Not really - I am planning on signing up for an iPhone today or tomorrow ... The wastage may be that I will never use the plan and intend to break it within the first hour.

Why don't you just buy directly from the Apple website then?

I don't like waiting and I am not a fan of putting 'business' expenses on my CCard.

ahmad: 4 days too late for many people 2 Degrees...

And you can only buy iphone 4 from VF on contract anyway. Assuming apple starts selling it online before then it'll take 4 days for it to get delivered. :)

You mean speed? There are not many 3G users on 2degrees yet, so any test now would have no meaning...

But it's going along well. Fast and smooth.

Telecom is set to make a big splash about their HSPA+ capabilities this Thursday.

I am flying up to AKL on Tuesday for the 3G press event, then again on Thursday for the Telecom press event.

4Mb/s it GREAT - but when they have packed everyone and their dog you probably wont see better than 1mb/s. And that ping is very very high, won't be too grand when surfing websites... It's almost as bad as satellite connections.

Telecom's HSPA+ upgrade has been a fizzer as far as i'm concerned, I get HSPA+ speeds in Auckland 9mbps+ infact however in Rotorua there is no difference in speed from a standard HSPA device circa 3-4mbps.

One of the things I would like to see is a HSPA+ coverage map because I think there are big parts of the country missing the upgrade.

I have invested in 2 HSPA+ devices now and have come to the conclusion that it's a waste of time.

Here in Grenada Village north of Wellington, have been similarly underwhelmed by HSPA Plus. Quite similar speeds to HSPA.

Well VF made a huge thing about GPRS back in the day when it was total scum... Doubling the speed is pretty good! Not many DSL connections are that quick.

Sounds excellent so long as there are some good data plans attached and there is good coverage might be worth a move from XT.

Does anyone know if there 3g network will be available in Hamilton at time of launch?

The large ping might have simply been a temp delay, the speed went up a lot during the test.
But I completely agree. I posted the speedtest result only as a response to a previous post, not as an endorsement of the performance. I am on 2D but have been getting a bit more and more disappointed with them. Had a major roaming auto-topup fail and don't really see their 3G being on the par with what telecom are providing.
