It is most likely cached in slingshot's torrent cache

I cant even watch a pathetic 700k stream off tvnz at the moment. And no, the connection is not being maxed out.

Just broadband, seems to have really had issues today compared to normal.

all thru offpeak last night my FTPs were timing out and going slow when they were not timing out.

Started it earlier tonight and was only getting 45kB/s or so, so stopped it.

105-110kB/s now, but as soon as it hits 1am when the other plans offpeak start, it will die again. I think they have pillaged the bandwidth for the normal plans to give to the unlimited ones to make them look ok for now so people dont change off them for lousy performance

Thats true, but less than 100KB/s for a download is bad even for unlimited

Still hanging on at 100kB/s on the FTP, so its a lot better than last night so far, will see in 20 mins when the free period starts and my torrents kick in what the FTP does as far as total thruput.

scottjames84: problems yet again downloading from usenet at 50-150k at 6:45; speed tests are showing my connection is 11mbit and yet my download is so crap.
Slingshot needs to get their Sh*t together.
I am paying for broadband and yet I am pretty much getting glorified dialup speeds LOL.

dialup is 8k your pretty far from that kind of speed, plus usenet is classed as a bulk downloading service and has a low network priority. Plus your on the all you can eat, so even if it takes all day, it's not costing you any more. If you really need it faster then try using a different source.

Slingshot is right when they say they don't shape, they use "prioritisation" which is different and use it to balance their network so that all users get the same kind of access to the network. Your traffic is classed as "bulk downloading", if that was given a higher percentage priority to the total bandwidth pool available, then other users would no get enough bandwidth to check there emails, run skype calls or even surf the web. The prioritisation is there to keep the core of the network functional and not choked to stalling speeds by 10000 computers bulk downloading.

You asked "Is it to much to expect decent speeds all the time?" well yes it is asking too much, have you not heard of congestion?

And again you swear and cry that you can't download your illegal TV shows. Really when you drive on the roads to you carry on the same way at the government saying my car can do 200k/h I should get decent speeds but am limited to 100k/h. When your attempting to break the law and can't, nobody cares scott.

Sucks TVNZ streaming is going well, Slingshot really needs to put some effort into fixing that.
And no the AYCE plans are not taking data from the other plans data pools, they are in a different pool.

I agree with your comment hellonearthisman but there is one point your missing, the problem isn't that there isn't good speeds all the time, its the fact speeds are slow at all times the last few days, if it was prioritization then wouldn't you see varying speeds depending on the time of day and how busy the network is? Because what I have been experiencing is the same slow speeds across the board no matter what time of day it is, i essentially don't get anything more than 100KB/s or sometimes a little bit higher at any time of the day.

And before you say my line can't do more than that, i can usually reach speeds of around 800 KB/s and do on this plan for the first 20mb then it slows down.

Not sure what you really expected from Slingshot who were bad prior to having an unlimited plan and were definitely going to be bad with an unlimited plan.

Is your total speed locked to 100kB/s can't you get more data down by connecting to multiple places.
Yes, RS may only get 100kBps and torrents 100kBps but I can get those speeds from both at the same time and can use other sources as well to get closer to my max line speed. Doesn't that work the same on the AYCE plan.
