atwuk: I have a telecom R6

There's your problem right there.

Those phones seem to have serious RF performance issues to the point they just dont work in my loungeroom where a HTC or Samsung on telecom will work acceptably well. No idea how their GSM performance is, but if its anything like their 3g performance then you are lucky to get a call when not standing under a cell tower.

If you are wanting to use a phone on 2degrees and be roaming onto vodafone in the middle of nowhere you really need the 900MHz 3g on them as thats what vodafone provide best in those places. Plenty of phones from a vodafone shop that feature "extended 3G", and some of the non bottom tier stonerphones from 2degrees have 900MHz 3g.

Get the nokia 2730. Its RF is good, its battery life is good, and its made by a company that actually has support.
