hamish225: Sorry to ask a silly question, but does anyone know if you can change to the new plans without the contract??
my dad would change if there was no contract, ?i realise we wouldn't get the half price for 6 months deal but its still cheaper and more cost effective than what we have now.?
MOBILE: Huawei P30
OTHER: Thinkpad E14 + Asus Vivobook + Intel NUC5i3 + A family of Raspberry Pi x 9 + Amazon Echo
hellonearthisman: usenet would be considered as a bulk downloading system and you will get about around 30kBps - 100kBps some report up to 300kBps with full line speed outside the free data periods.
I don't know how the new plans will act with network load, congested times expect to see the slower speeds.

nyquist:
You need to not be under a current contract *and* have your home line with Slingshot. Was just told this when I switched over so I didn't get the 50% deal.
nyquist: Thanks for the heads up. I called them again about this and only new customers can get it without the homeline. Existing customers need to be out of contract and with a homeline.
Also, it must have been busy today because I tried calling three times.
Nil Einne: Sorry to hear that. I definitely got it despite being an existing customer without contract and not having the home line and have the credit in my account right now (it was 50% off the total price in other words 50% off the $5.00 you pay each for no homeline & no tolls as well). I should clarify I don't have home line or tolls, I guess it's possible for some odd reason they don't offer it to people with tolls but no homeline but do offer it to people without homeline or tolls but seems unlikely.
More likely either I just got lucky or you kept getting unlucky. Did you mention the homeline bit to them? I understand it may have been necessary because of the problems before but it perhaps didn't help since it may not be something it occurred to them to check by themselves ;-) (Perhaps since I didn't have homeline or tolls they didn't notice since my prices were $10 higher rather then the $5 higher?)
No problems with it being busy for me but I called at like 9 am :-) (Well I did get put on hold for a while when the person checked about when I could change plan.)
