Scotsman: I have been told by Telecom and others that they cannot move no.s to a different exchange.

That's a Telecom limitation not a general number porting limitation, as mentioned you can port the number to 2talk or xnet xfv.

Wow I now have a text message from Orcon provisioning saying Im being connected (again) on the 16th! 2 days before I move on the 18th.

All this after another 2 days of speaking to the Genius tech people who assured me it was being properly dealt with!

This will no doubt end up in another faulty install and repeat of the process.

Staggering.....Orcon.

Once again...the date is the 18th of November...not the 11th and not the 16th....... .

My word how hard can it be to get this.

So the latest on this ongoing debacle is that Orcon sent an Engineer to connect me today (17th) at the new property.

He again was told not to disconnect the current owner as the actual moving date is the 18th (and always was from way way back), the tech then said he would not do the job until the current owners contract with Orcon ended which is the 8th of next month!

He then promptly told him he didn't care as he was off to Australia next week and walked off.

And that's how Orcon are continuing to look after me.

1 week without any connection, phone line and still no call back from any supervisor or tech despite 3 promises and two separate escalations.

Will I ever get connected?

Apparently if you take over a line from an existing customer at Orcon you have to wait for their term/contract to finish? Why wasn't I ever told this given they have both our details prior to this move

Do Orcon actually care?.....it really doesn't look like it.

If you're having so much trouble with them why not just ditch them and sign up with someone else. its obvious they wont deliver service on the date promised anyway, why do you want to carry on with them for further crap?
