But in 2009 you had no idea that mobile termination rates were going to be regulated and what they were going to be cut by. Your casual prepay rate is dearer than some of your competitors.

Ah, I see. Yes, we did have an idea. As our executive indicated at the time that the MTAS decision was announced, we worked on the assumption that the decision would go this way and priced everything with that already taken into account.

So, as I said, we introduced those in 2009. :-)

Why this press release from Bill McCabe dated June 2010 if you already knew that MTR's were going to be regulated.

http://blog.2degreesmobile.co.nz/commerce-commission/true-mobile-market-competition-one-step-closer/
True mobile market competition one step closer2degrees, New Zealand’s newest mobile network company, hopes the government will move quickly and accept today’s Commerce Commission recommendation on Mobile Termination Rates (MTRs).

2degrees chief operating officer, Bill McCabe, says the recommendation to regulate the charges operators make to connect calls to each others’ networks is a positive prelude to real improvements in mobile call rates.

“We won’t see change until this decision is accepted by the Minister and the price-setting process is concluded. That leaves plenty of opportunity for Vodafone and Telecom to stall the process, so we’re hoping for a quick decision and a fast process that allows 2degrees to put even better prices in the market,” says Bill.

According to Bill, 2degrees has had incredible support from New Zealanders on the MTR issue.

“It’s rare for an industry issue like this to capture the hearts and minds of consumers. We’re extremely grateful for the support of 13,000 New Zealanders who lodged their protest in the ‘Drop The Rate Mate’ campaign,” he says.

This is off topic ajw, start a new thread if you wish but if you re-read what has been said it is quite clear.

Heh, at morning tea we were speculating that with everyone owning PVRs and not watching ads, free TV would die, except for the like of TVNZ ondemand which forces you to watch an ad first. Then the suggestion came up of free mobile phone services where every time you make a call you have to listen to an ad first, or SMSs have an ad appended. Arrg.

And I am still waiting to see a reduction in your casual prepay rate.

You see, SaltyNZ is being "funny". You are asking for a "reduction in casual prepay rate" to bring lower prices. He's saying they introduced lower prices in 2009 (at launch), ignoring you are talking about ongoing reduction or a reduction after the MTR - something the company said would be "the best thing in the world" (TM)...

But as someone said, off topic, so please create a new one asking "where are the MTR consequences?"...
