I've asked for a price, although I bet that it'll be horrendous for me due to topography, node location, etc. I'll post back once I hear something.

A few months back I think I got a quote for around $4000 for a house nearby.

Early termination requires you to pay the total cost of the service for the remainder of the contract period

CFH has specified what PIR/CIR offerings there will be and the top end for GPON plans is 100/50, this reflects the GPON capability of 2.4Gb/s down 1.2Gbp/s up with a 24way split, hence 100/50 is it.

If you go with P2P offerings then you can have 100/100 or 1Gig/1Gig but thats a different class of offering to residential.

the difference between
$99 ? 100Gb cap
$199 ? 1,000Gb cap

is huge? why not $129 plan for maybe 300GB data?

Yep.

But if you think it through, it will take some years for the rings to fill up, so the first customer will get stonking service and it will decline from there.

Yep.

But if you think it through, it will take some years for the rings to fill up, so the first customer will get stonking service and it will decline from there.

If thats the case then eventually the speed will be worse than ADSL2+. So whats the benefit?

I don't think that ADSL2+ has a CIR at all. Someone is sure to correct me if I'm wrong :)

No it doesn't but the majority of the time you will be able to attain the full speed.

I'm thinking the same thing. If they had a $129 plan with 300GB I would be the first to sign up. Not sure why they jump from 100GB to 1000GB with nothing in between.

That's not as bad as I thought it could be, especially since judging by your recent "7 km from the exchange" thread you're probably further out "in the sticks" than I am.

Nope, no fibre around here planned at all. I was meaning a house in town, like central Feilding.

Orcon LLU is 100kbits.
