Kyanar: Is it Masterton or Masteron? I can't decide! (And nor can 2degrees!)

Hi all

We are currently testing and our network in the Wairarapa ready for roll-out in the near future, so customers may see 'H' or 'E' showing on their handset or device in some areas.

However you may also experience the some drops while this optimization takes place. We appreciate your patience while get things right.

We'll let you know when it's a live and official MBB zone - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobilebroadband/broadbandzones

Cheers

I think you will find it is currently only Vodafone roaming. Theres no RSM licenses held as yet in the Wairarapa for 2D. (www.rsm.govt.nz) I would imagine without a RSM license a tower cannot broadcast.... The two recently built Masterton towers aren't broadcasting as of my last search at 20:30 tonight using two different handsets (900MHZ, 2100MHZ UMTS & 900MHZ GSM all being covered across the two)

Now live! It appears 900Mhz GSM / WCDMA and 2100Mhz WCDMA are operating.

Urban Masterton only from my testing. I'm pretty sure they haven't actually built any other sites in the Wairarapa yet other than the Masterton Two.

South Wairarapa 2D coverage appears usable as of today. Appears to be Carterton, Greytown, Featherston and Martinborough. Co-located on VF's towers near Carterton and Martinborough.

If they put towers in the middle of Greytown and Martinborugh they will get more instant customers as Telecom and vodafone are lacking in these areas.

Both VF and Telecom have sites pretty close to The Square in Martinborough.

To celebrate here's a Google Earth file I've made of all the NZ cellsites locations which shows many new site for 2degrees including the Masterton/Carterton ones, and many more.

I noticed a few weeks ago that there were a few people on the Kurpuni site putting another, bigger microwave dish pointing at what would be the Carterton Site. The KML is missing the other cell in Masterton.

Ah ok I though it was on the hill on the side of town as I have been able to pickup Vodafones Martinborugh tower in Greytown, unless there is more than 1 of course.
