1 connections downloads at ~32mbit/sec 4 connections downloads at ~58mbit/sec 12 connections downloads at ~70mbit/sec
Which makes me wonder what is going on.

Could someone from Orcon comment? Speedtests that others have posted also on UFB 100mbit from other isps show they can get 80% of their connection speed without having to resort to extreme measures like this.
Whats more is i'm a business connection so if some sort of traffic shaping is happening then i'm not going to be impressed.
i think orcon shape all their traffic, but give business users higher priority.
that it's saying bng, i think the bng's can do shaping themselves as well.
if you really care about performance you probably should get them to place you on a point to point fibre connection rather than gpon, although that is probably hundreds of dollars more expensive.
if you just see it as a fast 50 megabit connection it's doing well though.
actually screw that, 1 connection doing 32 megabit is pretty bad. you should just submit a ticket to them?
I chased up Orcon today. It turns out they are working on new firmware for the Genius modems to address speed issues. They told me it could be a while but its interesting its being actively worked on.
I wonder if these types of issues are why we don't have to pay for fibre until next year? Gives them time to work out the kinks.
My speeds (see above) are using a orcon-supplied Cisco SRP router as im a business customer, so not so likely the router (but could still be) is the cause of my speed problems.
In my case it can go faster if I open lots of connections, but I shouldn't need to be doing that. People on other ISPs are getting faster speeds on a single connection which is why Im wondering about Orcon shaping things.
I haven't opened a ticked yet, must get around to doing it.
