I have some insane amount of rolled over minutes enough to last me probably 6 months.

What I want to see is some decent data limit like 5gb per month so I can actually use the device like a true 2012/13 internet device without fearing how much data has been used listening to podcasts, installing updates, sending files etc.

Forget the minutes and the sms - data is where its at in 2013...

At the moment, I'm on prepay and 3G data is switched off on my phone, because the data costs are just too much and too hard to figure out... Give me a plan for 2GB for $60 and I would be there... no free minutes or free SMS required!

If you're in the zone they'll give you 3GB for $50.

Not sure what you're on about there Bee but with that budget you should be finding it easy. 2degrees prepay pricing is pretty simply. Right now you can buy 3 GB broadband packs for $50, and that's good for 2 months so it's not a monthly cost if you need < 2 GB. If you add the current $19 txt combo that gives you another 500 MB per month and unlimited texts, plus takes care of calling for the most part.

Is that an addon/ prepay only?

Ive recently been looking at buying a Galaxy N2 but all the plans that go with it cost way more than $50 and don't offer anymore than 2GB...

The $19 pack is prepay.  You can buy the 3GB BBZone data as an addon to prepay or post pay plan, or completely by itself on prepay.  You will need to check that you are in a broadband zone though to use the 3GB of data (most main towns and cities).  The data that comes with the $19 or the postpay plans is national data.

Not really a good option. Currently I pay $40 for 120 mins and 100 bonus and 1G of data.

If I were to go prepaid and get the $19 plan with the 100 minutes of data (only 50MB) and then add on $50 for 3G of data, I would be paying for on average $44 for 100 minutes and 1.5GB of data.

I would much prefer that the 100 bonus minutes each month could be exchanged for 500MB of bonus data that would not be carried across if not used.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.
